gsgary Posted February 2, 2016 Share #10562 Posted February 2, 2016 My 1967 Summaron 35mm f2.8 is pretty much permanently attached to my MP. Quite a few examples in this thread - in fact the Lacock images were all taken with it, one of the rare times I fitted it to my M7. It is a superb lens. The 35F2. 5 color skopar is glued to my M4p so I would say 35 is probably my favourite length

Guest Posted February 2, 2016 Share #10566 Posted February 2, 2016 (edited) If your ever in the Peak District we have a great stone circle where you can shoot without people getting in the way, Arbor Low Mate, I was brought up in the southish part of Stockport, but obviously now an expat since 1999. There's a part of me itching to get myself back up to my original neck o' the Pennine woods where dark and moody light is two a penny, and the dark and moody subjects are three a penny. I look at your pickies with nostalgic recognition. Kinder Scout? Castleton? Snake Pass? (Edited) Matlock Leek (ok, next door) Buxton And lets add the areas around Macclesfield, the entire Cheshire Plain, the High Peak, and why not the nasty moors immediately west of Manchester (the closest to my heart). I did hike the Pennine Way in my 20s and have a troublesome knee to prove it. And the first 100 miles remain my personal joy. Keep posting those Peak District pickies, cos they push the right sort of buttons for me. Ric Edited February 2, 2016 by Guest

gbealnz Posted February 2, 2016 Share #10573 Posted February 2, 2016 And without wanting to railroad this thread, curiosity got the better of me. "Where is Mieussy"? So I looked in Google Maps of course. Looks lovely, and a place I really must visit. Interestingly, saw an aircraft in the shot, so did a quick screen-grab. Gary Welcome, dear visitor! Guest Posted February 2, 2016 Share #10574 Posted February 2, 2016 That's weird I was born in Heaton Mersey went to Didsbury Rd School then Belmont which became Peel moat Lower, went swimming at Reddish Baths Childhood in Romiley, then 20s in Didsbury morphed into early 30s in Heaton Mersey. Then down Sarf, then Switzerland by way of Luxembourg. Skool was Marple Ridge, wot were regionally famous for nowt. Although one of the kids there was the kid from Worzel Gummidge. And a particularly foxy brunette found fame and fortune in the Robin Hood series. Mate, I now spend my time scratching my head finding light that, erm, fell out of the sky when I were a lad. Doc Henry Posted February 2, 2016 Author Share #10577 Posted February 2, 2016 (edited) The Summarit 35 is a surprisingly good performer too, and you might find a used one in budget. Chris My 1967 Summaron 35mm f2.8 is pretty much permanently attached to my MP. Quite a few examples in this thread - in fact the Lacock images were all taken with it, one of the rare times I fitted it to my M7. It is a superb lens. For Gary , Chris and Keith about Summaron and Summarit you mentioned above I quote Erwin Puts in "Leica Chronicle": "Summaron 35 f 2.8 would be called the 2.8 Elmarit 6 elements in 4 groups Wt 210g Minimum distance of 100 cm Production from 1958 to 1974 Glasses treated with lanthanum Excellent overall performance and particularly best large aperture. At 5.6 image quality guarantee of being beautiful Objective very pleasant to use because of its compact design and its excellent performances" Summarit 35 f 2.5 6 elements in 4 groups Wt 220 g Minimum distance 80 cm Production begining 2007... Even the appearance and ergonomics of Summicron 35mm Continuing the Summaron and Summicron 2 / 35mm Deviation of 50 years between the Summaron 2.8 / 35 and Summarit 2.5 / 35 but a considerable improvement in image quality Rapid movement focus, fast, secure and fluid. In the tradition of the Leica flows between mental vision and photographic capture, designated as ideal travel companion for a photographer wishing focal length 35mm Contrast and resolution are high, glare resistance is excellent (thanks in part to blackening of the frame at the rear) Rg H. cwolffensperger Posted February 2, 2016 Share #10579 Posted February 2, 2016 I probably should ask in the M leases forum but I would rather ask my friends here, I don't have a Leica lens yet only Voigtlander which are very good, I have 40mmF1.4 Nokton, 35F2.5 Color Skopar, 50mmF1.5 Nokton asph, 28mmF2.8 Ultron all M fit but I want to get a Leica lens I'm trying not to spend more than £750, so far I'm looking at the 35F2. 8 Summaron and f3.5 Summaron, what other would be worth looking at not stuck on 35mm but I don't want anything over 50mm I found that the summicron 35/2 v1 is generally a little cheaper with the goggles, and found one for about 800€, so if you look well... And I really love this lens. Old style with glow wide open, very sharp closed down. A little bigger with the goggles, but works very fine on both my M3 and M6. Good look with your search!
