rpavich Posted November 10, 2015 Share #7742 Posted November 10, 2015 (edited) A few more from the family reunion as I develop them. Both are Portra 400. Both taken with my K1000 / 35mm f/2.8 lens. (My M6 should be back to me next week, it's gotten it's CLA and viewfinder upgrade from Sherry now.)The first one is my nephew who avoided having his picture taken so I had to be stealth. The second one is my other nephew, the budding Photographer! I gave him a film camera and he absolutely went nuts over the whole process. He said that he liked it better because it takes more skill than his Nikon D70. gbealnz Posted November 10, 2015 Share #7743 Posted November 10, 2015 Nice to see RP. Once you become the darkroom master, teach him that as well. I hate to say it but it's becoming a dying art. Gary

Where is it that you (and/or your extended family) live, if I may ask?

I thought so too...that portra is amazing. I live in West Virginia and my wife's extended family lives in Alabama; that's where the reunion was held.

Kleinkamera Posted November 10, 2015 Share #7750 Posted November 10, 2015 You are absolutely right After all those quality shots on the last pages I am back with another try in Cinestill 800. Unfortunately I wanted to insert a new film half way through the roll - one has to check the picture counter, me think... Now I got some interesting light leaks across my film - but I cropped the shown image to hide my incapabilities Bild-15.jpg M4-P - Cron 50 DR - Cinestill 800 @500 This CineStill film, I have never used it but I think I need to try it. Your photo looks terrific! James
Kleinkamera Posted November 10, 2015 Share #7751 Posted November 10, 2015 "Magnifique" James like in a movie Thanks Best Henry Thanks Henry! The print took a lot of work, mostly careful burning-in of some areas, because the negative was very flat, low contrast. James
Kleinkamera Posted November 10, 2015 Share #7752 Posted November 10, 2015 I like this one, James. Lots of shapes and good tonality as well as some nostalgic quality. Are you from Austin? Thank you, Adam! I'm not originally from Austin but lived there during three separate periods, leaving for a while and then returning. It's an interesting place but so different now from when I first lived there. James

Sparkassenkunde Posted November 10, 2015 Share #7759 Posted November 10, 2015 This CineStill film, I have never used it but I think I need to try it. Your photo looks terrific! James very nice, James. Looks to be the onset of the magic hour. The lighting is very natural and would have come yellow is porta were used. I wish they made the cinestill in 120 format... Abolutely superb colors in the "dark" James Best Henry Thank you all for your comments! It is indeed a very nice film - but not that easy to master, as I had to learn. But since I have kept to the advice, to shoot this film @500, my results are getting better I guess this would have been a good film in 120, too. But the Kickstarter project was not successful
Sparkassenkunde Posted November 10, 2015 Share #7760 Posted November 10, 2015 This is a slight digression for the dog lovers among us... Last Friday I schlepped to Williamsburg Brooklyn before dawn for some (foggy) sunrise shooting and was happy to find myself with access to the banks of the East River (I hadn't been there before and so didn't know how much access there was to the river). When I arrived it was pitch black and only after the sun came out did I realize that I had put myself in a dog park. Dogs of all sizes started arriving with their owners and they really liked my camera! I picked this dog out of the crowd (who IMO was in a class of his own) and created a spot for it, set up the camera and then invited the owner to bring her dog to the spot that I had set up. I sent her the photo and was pleased. Kodak Tmax 400 (with the foggy Manhattan skyline in the background...) I am not that much into dogs, but your image is splendid!
