Because I shoot no where near enough film! Next purchase has got to be a negative scanner or a house with a darkroom for printing!

I really would like to figure out how to get set up for printing but to me, it's really confusing trying to figure out what's good, what's not, what I need, what to buy....yikes. I wish I had someone near me who could let me do a hands-on to get started.

We're looking to move house at the moment and I know for a fact that the next door neighbour has a fully equipped darkroom. Infuriatingly they had the bad manners to get divorced and move away. Maybe they'll let me rent it...

RP, I agree, try printing.

I recall you "arriving" just a very short while ago, and not having processed anything, nothing. Now you are an accomplished set of processing hands, even "experimenting" with old film, and exhausted chemicals. What a short but sharp rise.

Printing is simpler if anything, so don't hesitate to try it. I am more than happy to assist with what you need and how, if you feel you need a one on one assistant, and I am sure the majority of the thread particiapants would do the same.

PM me if you want to contact.

... printing with photographic paper , not the same process as jet ink printing , it's  nicer , specially in b&w  :)

I agree with Gary

Aw shucks....twernt nuttin. But thanks anyway for the kind words. I'm just obsessive by nature and an Engineer by trade so the two combine to make some things advantageous and others not quite so :)

Something I didn't add to my post earlier, and something that is often difficult to convey.

The feeling you get (or will get) when the first print "appears" in the developer, it is almost magical, really is. I remember it in the mid 60's, and still feel the same today, it is a wonderful sense of achievement.

You've come this far, processing your own negatives/film, so the rest is a given, try it.

And harping back to my youth, where disposable income (as a schoolboy) was scarce, all you really need is chemicals, and paper. I used old trays that we got our meat on, too shallow, but they were free. Chemicals and paper came from a chemist who I worked for after school. I was hooked. The enlarger I "made" from a slide projector which we had. Thinking back, it was THE best way to learn, the hard way.

Even if you just proof sheet your negs, for selection later on. No enlarger required for that.

Hi Henry - I actually like the use of positive and negative space in this image, as well as the tones in the sky.  I would, though, like to see more shadow details.  I don't think the highlights are bright enough to achieve a successful silhouette.

Another early morning cityscape with EKTAR (from a few weeks ago).

I like the composition and went back to this spot this morning for the sunrise in an attempt to get the skyline sharper (and capture the scene with more of the rising run in the sky) and I miscalculated the tide and got too close to the water and then at the wrong moment got engulfed in a wave from a distance passing tug boat.  Never saw it coming... :o  My pants and shoes were completely soaked and I lost my Minolta Spot Meter F which I had to repurchase on Ebay earlier today.

Thanks Adam for your comment.

I especially wanted to take the reflection of this large mirror with the people who are upside down and the perspective of the big wheel.

as it is hot in August 2015, many walkers at this hour of the night :)
