3mins 30 - that is less than the massive dev chart for 400..... What effect is there of reducing the time (recommended 5 mins)? Does it give more contrast?

I am about to develop a Tri-X roll this afternoon (just loaded into the tank) - it was shot at 800 exposure. What suggestion for development in HC-110 B dilution? I am happy to experiment with this roll so no upset if it doesn't work out well!

(is this an OK question here, or should be back in the Film section?)!!

Regards and thanks again!

Paul

Paul,

Here what Kodak says about pushing TX400 :

"PUSH PROCESSING:

Push processing allows you to expose the film at higher film-speed numbers for conditions such as low-level light, stop action, or existing light. However, there will be a loss of shadow detail and an increase in graininess.

Because of these films’exposure latitude, you can  underexpose by one stop and use normal processing times. Prints will show a slight loss in shadow detail.

You can underexpose by two stops if you increase development time by push processing. Prints will show an  increase in contrast and graininess with further loss of  shadow detail. However, results should be acceptable for many applications. Expose a test roll to determine the film  speed that gives the best results for your application.

You can underexpose TRI-X 400 Film / 400TX by three stops if you increase development time by push processing. Prints will show an increase in contrast and graininess, and an additional loss of shadow detail.

However, results should be acceptable for some applications. Expose some test rolls to determine the film speed that gives the best results for your application."

My picture of "creeks"  above is done in HC110 dev time 3mn30 but normal exposure and normal processing 3mn30 sec in new developer.

Best

I've been experimenting with Tri-X @400 in HC-110 (1:49 - easier to measure than 1:47 and effectively the same). 8 minutes at 20ºC in the motorised Rondinax:

They look great!

I have a Rondinax coming in the mail!

This makes me excited!

Two examples from my most recent Tri-X roll. HC-110 at 6mins 20C (apologies Henry -didn't see your post until after had started!).

Finding more water marks and curling with Tri-X than HP5, with no change in technique - interesting. Despite having shower on before hanging the roll, some fluff on the negs as well :(

All a learning experience!

Hey guys, I won't be posting here for a while. I just got my Leica S two days ago, so I'll be shooting that for a while only to get the hang of it! Of course I'll always return to some film shots now and then :)

Hi All,

I changed my color development method (here a roll of Kodak Portra 400)

Thermostated hot plate Kaiser set at 38 ° C

All products are at 38 °C in a cuvette maintained at 38 ° C.

Temperature checked in each bottle.
