Massimo,

I think that Adox Color Implosion must have been the film that Georges Seurat used!

(Just joking, Henry, don't panic!)

Thank you Chris for the recall  :)

.... probably Chris referring to this recent post :

http://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/242423-moving-to-film-or-not/?p=2878361

It's very simple I seek what is beautiful , faithful , natural  :)

It's like in music

I am listening a piece of Jazz * (Modern Jazz Quartet Atlantic vinyl disk and CD the same piece)

by comparing both analog and digital / analog systems (CD-SACD Player Pioneer vs Thorens + Ortofon MC)

Guess who is best ?

High-fidelity music and high fidelity picture , same fight  :D

I use the Plustek 7400 with Vuescan. I found helpful, before scanning the film, to scan a small part of film not exposed (typically the bridge between two frames) and to use it to adjust the exposure of the scanner.

After that I lock the exposure and scan all the frames without white balance or any other automatic adjustment. This worked very well on all my previous scans, both b&w and color.

I used this process with the Adox Color Implosion, and it worked fine. Then I did the same with the Cinestill and I had the above issue.

Today I made again the scan skipping the first step and I used the automatic level function in Vuescan.

I don't get how to do this. I have Vuescan but can't figure this out. Can you help?

In Vuescan on the first page of settings there is an option called "lock exposure". When you start a new scan this must be unflagged. Then you make a scan preview and crop the area where the film is not exposed. This is where you set the exposure. Now you can flag the lock exposure and start to scan the film.

Vuescan has to be set to show it's full settings ('Professional' if I recall correctly) for the Lock Exposure option to be visible.

It appears that it's also scanner dependent. Lock exposure was available with the Canon 9000F that I gave back but not with my crappy V30.
