Hi Adam - I got that one with the scanner and have used it once or twice but find it a bit tricky to use because it can only do one frame at a time.

What I did instead was to buy Focal Point's anti-newton glass for the FH-869S (Mike at FP offers really great service). I also bought the 1mm plain glass to use underneath but it is in most situations not necessary as only rarely will a strip not be flat enough (and also I - but very, very, very rarely - Newton rings with both sheets of glass). Here's a photo of the S open, currently with both pieces of glass in it. Note how I've just used duct tape to attach the 3mm AN glass. It works well and feels secure enough.

Given what the GR sells for (insane), the Focal Point solution is (a lot) cheaper, more user-friendly and gives at least as good results with very sharp corners.

this is very helpful, Philip.  I really appreciate you taking the time to post this.

Buren columns

Like the pyramids of the Louvre, the Buren columns have made a lot of noise in 1985.

Some find them  "ugly"
Now everyone loves
! in any case it is the joy of children's games .... and adults

My pleasure Adam. I also recently managed to find an Image Mechanics wet mount tray (rare as hens' teeth these days) so I'll post results once I have it (and have got the hang of the process).

Thank you Henry. I just checked on Google Maps, and see it is very close to the Louvre, so we will visit this in a month or so.

How we missed it last time I don't know, certainly spent enough time (and money) in Rue de Rivoli.

Andreas has replied that he has no problem with this thread being unofficially open to film images from any camera. He doesn't want it made official as that might mean having to open up other areas of the forum, and he doesn't want us to flood the thread with non-Leica images so as to spoil the character of the place. So, if Henry agrees (as he started this thread and nurtures it carefully), we can share all kinds of film images here!

Cool!  Should posters go ahead and disclose the non Leica gear used or just be silent and disclose the film used?

Aren't there other places on the web to share non Leica images? I would rather the thread is kept pure....

given that leica camera bodies are merely light boxes just like any other film camera, once you allow the posting of photos taken with non-Leica lenses, all "purity" is lost.  This thread is really primarily about sharing and commenting on different types of film. I think that Andreas understands this.

I learn good things about Leica equipment and its 35mm films on this forum.  Larger formats behave differently (they're usually nicer to view).  But I'm just here for the combination of intelligence+talent+35mm+Leica.

Anything else is just stuff I have to wade through.

The new posts will just makes it harder to keep up with Adam & Philip's generous and informative film carriage & anti-Newton glass conversation and Chris' monobath and Gsgary's Rodinal miracles.
