Givernykp400Image1-2 (2)lfht+++950.jpg Best Henry Thanks, it looks like Kodak Portra 160/400 reproduce highlights in direct sunshine much better than Fujifilm Superia 200.

Cuthbert Posted June 18, 2015 Share #5268 Posted June 18, 2015 Thanks, it looks like Kodak Portra 160/400 reproduce highlights in direct sunshine much better than Fujifilm Superia 200. Yes Superia manages pretty badly overexposure and underexposure in comparison to Portra, Ektar or also Fujifilm Pro 400, also it is visibly more grainy. This shot has been a big disappointment: Similar shots taken with Superia and Ektar:
Cuthbert Posted June 18, 2015 Share #5269 Posted June 18, 2015 Ellie , there is something "fresh", "softness" too, when you see the color that emerges from this film. On the other hand I love the French impressionist period. Thanks for your comment and thumbs up Best Henry If you like impressionism you need a SLR with an Helios 44 lens (the one with swirly bokeh) and Ektar.

Cuthbert I still have a Leicaflex R4S with 5 R lens and macro equipment but I don't use for the moment ! Thanks for the suggestion Best Henry
chrism Posted June 18, 2015 Share #5272 Posted June 18, 2015 I wanted to try out the motorised Rondinax, and having no one else home, sat myself in front of a camera and guessed the focus (rather badly). The Superia 400 came out of the machine quite nicely though: Chris
Doc Henry Posted June 18, 2015 Author Share #5273 Posted June 18, 2015 Yes Superia manages pretty badly overexposure and underexposure in comparison to Portra, Ektar or also Fujifilm Pro 400, also it is visibly more grainy. This shot has been a big disappointment: Similar shots taken with Superia and Ektar: Cuthbert, after tests to develop in C41, with a heated water bath that was not satisfying, I just bought a hotplate to maintain constant color film developer temperature. I will soon start with the first roll of Kodak Portra 160. Why do I say that ? because the development may be the cause of a defect in the color. The laboratory may not respect the temperature or the developer bath is outdated. Finished also scratches. I think Chris is also developing his own color film. The Superia 400 came out of the machine quite nicely though: Chris Chris fine your development with your motorised Rondinax .Good idea As i said above , I will begin soon to develop by myself color film For my part , I continue to use my tank Paterson. Thanks for the suggestion Best Henry I don't think you can use the Helios with your R4, and this is what I mean with impressionistic bokeh: Edited June 18, 2015 by Cuthbert
