wattsy Posted February 28, 2015 Share #3368 Posted February 28, 2015 if the scan is good, do not worry about that...(I do think that a film scan looks like shit on a monitor/screen, but when printed it "comes to life" and looks just superb...with digital it is the other way around...) Yes, that is so true.

wattsy Posted February 28, 2015 Share #3376 Posted February 28, 2015 this particular M7 - it is now back at the factory for the fourth and final time after blotting its copy book one time too many. That's not so good, Keith. I remember you had problems with your M7 before but don't recall the details. What has happened to it this time?
Keith (M) Posted February 28, 2015 Share #3377 Posted February 28, 2015 That's not so good, Keith. I remember you had problems with your M7 before but don't recall the details. What has happened to it this time? The first time it went back (when only a few months old) was for total electrical/electronic failure. Second time was with '5000' flashing in the VF. A week after its return from that trip it went back with other indication errors and I was told that the complete electronic module had been replaced. On return there was an intermittent problem with the lower dot flashing - I put up with this for a year then the VF went wild again, alternately rapidly flashing 'ASA' and shutter speed. It was agreed with CS that the camera will be exchanged - the errant M7 arrived in Wetzlar last Tuesday and I now await details of the replacement. Good job my MP has been totally reliable! Keith I also have this flash of "asa" in the viewfinder. Here is what I do and it disappears this is due to bad contact possible in two places 1- at the level of wheel choosing asas or DX gone wrong and not well engaged, you should hear a "small click" when turning the wheel. I always use the DX 2- 3 electrical contacts that transmit the information must be absolutely clean Air gun or blow gently or wipe the contacts with a small clean dry cotton cloth. Sometimes I use my air compressor . Keith, check also that batteries should be fully charged Best Henry Edited February 28, 2015 by Doc Henry

No matter what little tricks are used, the problems remained - and three trips to the factory did not cure them either. Enough is enough!
