philipus Posted January 19, 2015 Share #2821 Posted January 19, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I hope ive not shown this before but i have only shot a few roll of Tri X and all were 30 years out of date one of my friends dog (30 years out of date) just shows how good this film is but too expensive for me That is a lovely portrait, Gary. About Tri-X, Maco Direct and Foto Impex have it for 4.50€/roll (and cheaper from 10 pcs) which is about £3,50 or a pound less than AG Photographic so it might be worth it even with shipping. That said, I find that the inexpensive Kentmere delivers nice inky results. It's one of the cheapest in bulk too which is extra fun. Welcome, dear visitor! Doc Henry Posted January 19, 2015 Author Share #2834 Posted January 19, 2015 Thanks, Henry. But you should know that this Fuji Pro 400H is 40%+ more expensive than Portra in the US. Adam, before I used Fuji for flower macrophoto but since the arrival of the Kodak Portra 160 (cheaper than KP 400) , I used both Fuji Superia and Kodak Portra approximately the same price. Fuji Sup is cheaper here than portra 400. I do not know the reason ? Wild daisy in macro I like this soft color (due to Fuji) and soft lines (due to film) Welcome, dear visitor! A miller Posted January 19, 2015 Share #2835 Posted January 19, 2015 Henry - Fuji Superia is indeed much cheaper than portra. This is because superia is a lower grade "consumer" film. The Pro 400H is a higher grade "professional" film on the same quality level as portra, but for some reason probably having to do with macroeconomics a lot more expensive.

Yes Adam , sorry there is a confusion for me so this is this film (equivalent in "finesse" to "Superia 100" according to the documentation) PRO 400 H 135-36 (par 10) - FUJIFILM and I thought this one : SUPERIA X-TRA 400 135-36 (par 10) - FUJIFILM Regards Henry

Sparkassenkunde Posted January 19, 2015 Share #2838 Posted January 19, 2015 Today I will show you a kind of "experimental" result. I had some cheap color negative in my M4-P, probably something from Fuji. I was happily testing my newly acquired Summicron 50 DR and then the problems began. While rewinding, the film stuck inside and I had to remove it in my darkroom. The film was torn apart and I then decided to develop the two pieces seperately in Rodinal 1+100 for 1 hour each. The film ended with heavy scratches, and most of the pics are merely useless. Just to show you, how C-41 color negative film developed in common black&white developer looks like, I attached one example: Welcome, dear visitor!
