Sensor dust. I am afraid it is a trip to service for 99.9% of users. The others do a self repair or perhaps set up an action in PS to spot them out.

Any of the cameras where the lens runs in/out stands a possibility of sucking in some dust.

Nikon has the issue with zooms that do the same thing.

The electronic camera can build up a static charge and attract dust, but how much dust is attracted might depend on where you put it - in a pocket without a protective case, worst possible place.

I bought mine new almost two years ago and continue to be very happy with the image quality. I have always taken good care of my cameras. But lately I have noticed a couple of issues and wonder if I should send it in for repair:

1. The auto-focus mechanism keeps trying to lock focus, even in "MF" mode.

2. In "Play" mode, when browsing through images using the "Left" "Right" direction buttons, the image often would be magnified randomly without turning of the Command Dial.

Both are getting to be pretty annoying. Have anyone experienced these? If so will Leica charge for their repair?

Thanks in advance for any comments.

AE_Nomad,

I had an issue with the Command Dial on my X1. Occasionally after depressing one of the buttons, the 6 o'clock button for AF/MF, the camera would stick in that mode as if the button was being continuously held in. In my case, it happened mostly when I was scrolling through the Menu.

Leica NJ said it was a sticking contact and I sent it in for replacement. Got it back in a couple of weeks. All is fine now.
