nryn Posted April 3, 2007 Share #1 Posted April 3, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi. I'm trying to tailor my lens collection towards a travel setup. I'm covered on the wide-ish end with a CV15 (may get the WATE with my discount) and a 35 Summilux. I've got a 50 Summicron which I like, but have had my eye on the 75mm Summicron for a while. Question: would a trade which exchanges the 24/2.8 for a 75/2 be fair? Any reasons I should hang on to the 24? I love the lens but after getting the 15 I'm either going 15 or 35, and the 24 seems the odd one out. I don't like to have things just for having them--I want the things I have to be used. The 24 generally stays home. As an aside, anyone with a 75 who is dying for a 24?
Advertisement Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 Hi nryn, Take a look here 24/2.8 for 75/2. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
robsteve Posted April 3, 2007 Share #2 Posted April 3, 2007 Is your 24mm coded?
nryn Posted April 4, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted April 4, 2007 Yeah, it's coded (had it done last time I was in Germany) and has an IR filter. Should have mentioned that earlier.
Guest guy_mancuso Posted April 4, 2007 Share #4 Posted April 4, 2007 i would trade you but don't have a 75 cron.
carcam Posted April 4, 2007 Share #5 Posted April 4, 2007 I have the coded 75/2 but won't trade it for anything (well...maybe something but i love it). I would trade you for my 21mm Elmarit, new/coded.
AaronJ Posted April 4, 2007 Share #6 Posted April 4, 2007 Tough call. I use my 24 on the M8 a lot as it's the widest you can go without a viewfinder. On the other hand, the 75 Cron is the sharpest lens I have ever used.
dspeltz Posted April 4, 2007 Share #7 Posted April 4, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I traveled in HI for two weeks recently with a full set of lenses just to see what I would use. I found myself using the 24 over the 21 much of the time because of the built in bright line and it generally served my purposes. The 35 1.2 Lux was used a great deal as well. Then I found I used the 90 far more than the 75 because I was reaching for objects I could not get to. The 75 was really good for longer portraits but less so for travel pictures and I used it infrequently. To my surprise, I ended up using the 50mm 2.8 elmarit collapsible a great deal of the time. So small, so convenient, It was almost the default lens as I walked. I do not think I would trade a 24 for a 75. But I change my mind alot about what lenses are essential. kidigital Posted April 4, 2007 Share #8 Posted April 4, 2007 David, I'm with you. I find that I have an advanced case of LLADD (Leica Lens Attention Deficit Disorder.) I'm not certain that I'll ever be able to pick favorites ... they are all so good. The problem is that I haven't yet figured out how I'm going to be able use them all at once. Laki Posted April 4, 2007 Share #9 Posted April 4, 2007 The problem is that I haven't yet figured out how I'm going to be able use them all at once.Kurt kurt, thats easy done just buy as much bodies as you have lenses, then add for each of them a tripod and a cable release and put them in a cricle around you
kidigital Posted April 4, 2007 Share #10 Posted April 4, 2007 Or one giant M8 with a variety of sensors that would allow you to use all of your lenses at once. It'd be pretty interesting to have such a variety of perspectives recording a single instant in time. Kurt
nryn Posted April 4, 2007 Author Share #11 Posted April 4, 2007 Yeah, in the end I think having a lens closet like Guy would be ideal, of course. But we aren't all that lucky (and some of us definitely not that deserving). I also realize that as soon as I get rid of it I'll want it back. Grrr.
