garygraphy Posted May 7, 2013 Share #1 Â Posted May 7, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi there, I will be heading to London next week and I see there is a rather unique location within Leica Mayfair called Cafe Optik. Â I have seen limited information online but it appears to be a Leica enthusiast cafe that offers limited camera servicing. Â Does anyone know what kind of services they offer apart from sensor cleaning? Is there calibration or 6-bit code mount change services? Â Thanks to anyone with experience or information on this. andybarton Posted May 7, 2013 Share #2 Â Posted May 7, 2013 Only sensor cleaning at Mayfair - everything else gets sent to Solms. Â It's owned by Leica and is opposite their Bruton Street, Mayfair shop.
Peter H Posted May 7, 2013 Share #3 Â Posted May 7, 2013 They will check the calibration of camera and lenses for you, and other diagnostic work, but corrective surgery has to be carried out in Solms.
andybarton Posted May 7, 2013 Share #4 Â Posted May 7, 2013 Is that right? The definitely will not adjust anything there, not even a simple rangefinder fix. Â One would have thought that if they had the equipment to test calibration, they'd have the wherewithall to actually fix it. Â Client Care has all the details - I see that some "limited on-site diagnostics, adjustments and some light repairs" might be coming in the next few months. Â I'm not sure what that means in "Leica-speak" though.
Peter H Posted May 7, 2013 Share #5 Â Posted May 7, 2013 They checked the calibration of my M9 and lenses and sent the results to Solms for me, with a report. But having the focus-checking equipment is not the same as having the ability to carry out a range corrective work I suppose. Â They would have sent the camera and lenses off too, but I needed to keep them with me until I got back up to Scotland, so Ffordes packed them up and sent them to Solms for me. Â But I have nothing but praise for they way they (and Ffordes) looked after me, and the work they did for me. All free of charge too, though the camera was still under warranty.
