WalterDMR Posted April 2, 2007 Share #1  Posted April 2, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello  Does anyone know if - in the near future - the new SDHC-cards can be used on the DMR?  Do we still have to wait until the (famous) 1.3 firmware update? Or is it a hardware issue and therefore impossible (like playing a blue ray disk on a normal DVD player)? You also need a new cardreader if you want to connect the SDHC-cards directly to the computer...   Walter
Advertisement Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 Hi WalterDMR, Take a look here DMR and SDHC Cards?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Guest rubidium Posted April 2, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted April 2, 2007 SDHC cards do not currently work in the DMR at all - I've tried a variety of them. Also, since the SD standard officially accomodates capacities up to 2GB, ordinary SD cards of 4GB capacity can be, and have proven to be, "hit or miss" with various devices. I've had solid reliability with the Transcend 150x 4GB SD cards in my DMR (with firmware 1.2), but some Samsung 150x 4GB cards that I tried recently wouldn't format although their presence was at least acknowledged by the DMR. Others here have consistently reported success with the Transcend 150x 4GB in both the DMR and M8. Â My understanding is that, since the electrical connections to SDHC are identical to those of ordinary SD, there is reason for one to hope that the same hardware can be used to interface with either. However, since the formats of the two standards are considerably different, different drivers for the hardware will certainly be required. Who knows if Leica has even considered this for firmware 1.3? Â I'm about at the boundary of my personal comfort zone with 4GB. Shooting in RAW, it holds 203 images. The consequence of losing a card, or having one fail, is the loss of that many images. I guess I'm willing to take that risk, but draw the line there. hdg Posted April 2, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted April 2, 2007 Hello Walter, it does not. My experiences: Â DMR > Only to use with SD cards up to 2 GB. If have tested a 4 GB but it works only up to 100 pictures (and than it "forgot" the shots). D-Lux > I have bought a 4 GB Toshiba SDHC card. It`s o.k. Â Regards Dieter, using R9+DMR (no problems with V 1.2) and D-Lux
