stevme Posted April 2, 2007 Share #1 Posted April 2, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just got my M8 back from Solms and was shooting with it last week. Somehow the shutter selection switch got turned to timed auto shutter once or twice. Sometime thereafter the camera went dead on me. The battery was freshly charged and I had not taken that many shots, so battery drain was not the issue. I tried turning it on and off a few times, and pulling the battery out and reseating it with no results. Strangely, about 10 minutes later, it came back to life, and there were no problems thereafter. I assume there was some problem with the switch on/off switch being accidentially set on auto shutter. On the general topic of maverick switches, I notice, I believe, that Leica has changed the design of the main on/off switch, so that there is no longer a small lug protruding out from the switch. Still, that switch seems to have a mind of its own, even after it was tightened as I had requested. BTW, my M8 was gone for about 4 1/2 weeks or so at Solms, having been shipped initially to New Jersey by me. If anyone has any suggestions on how to avoid accidentially setting that on/off switch, I'd appreciate hearing about it. I am sure it's because the camera swings against my clothing while I using another camera, and that moves the switch. When in crowds I get pushed around a lot.
