patashnik Posted May 1, 2013 Share #1 Posted May 1, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I sold a Leica MP a while back, and recently the buyer contacted me about a problem he had encountered with the light meter. On speeds from 1/250 to 1/1000 the light meter "skips" around, indicating over/under exposure in no orderly fashion. Shutter times seems to be OK. He asked if he could return the camera, and I accepted. I can't recall having had this problem before I sold it, and actually I used it for slide film that came out perfectly. Anyway, water under the bridge. I would of course like to have the camera serviced, and my go-to technician is Sherry Krauter. She has always done stellar work, but this time I'm leaning towards Leica Solms because, well, "electronics", light meter, etc. Sherry did respond to me and said that it possibly is a "switch", so she says that she could look at it. I have no idea what switch that would be though. Question: Has anyone had Solms do a service on their Leica MP/M6? And if so: What did they charge? Money isn't really an issue, as I would like to have this fixed. I'm just kind of torn between Sherry vs. Solms.

nervesplice Posted May 2, 2013 Share #2 Posted May 2, 2013 I had my M7 sent into Solms and had the meter repaired. It cost around €450 though that also included a Range Finder Adjustment, Shutter Time Adjustment and they replaced the DX Reader.
