Nick De Marco Posted April 7, 2013 Share #1 Posted April 7, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Not totally Leica unrelated as the reason I have rediscovered it is because I'm getting ready for the Leica M (how ling must I wait. Anyway I did a short re-review on my blog, including featuring the WCL I picked up, making the lens a 28mm f2 Anyone interested look here: http://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=1383094986304741224#editor/target=post;postID=1718020605336932567

}{B Posted April 8, 2013 Share #3 Posted April 8, 2013 The X100 is a superb camera. I bought the black special edition towards the end of last year. The menu is a bit daunting at first, I had to do a google search to discover how to turn the auto flash function off as it wasn't even mentioned in the manual. As a camera for landscapes I can't say I'm too happy with the way green is reproduced both in RAW and JPEG. I process my photos using Lightroom 4 but to my eye even JPEGs that haven't been through Lightroom still don't give a natural looking green. On the other hand setting the camera to take black and white shots and using the red filter option gives lovely photos easily adjusted to get the best out of them in Lightroom. MPerson Posted April 8, 2013 Share #4 Posted April 8, 2013 I use mine for B&W and love the high ISO range. My only niggle is I still keep nudging the EV dial. I will wait and see how the X100s performs. I learnt my lesson on moving on to the GRD III after I ran over my GRD I in the Land Rover! I much prefer the GRD I. bill Posted April 8, 2013 Share #5 Posted April 8, 2013 Andy, that's spooky... I ran over my GRDIII the other day! The nice men at Ricoh were able to bring it back to life - testament to the strength of the magnesium body when it can absorb a ton and a bit of Mercedes with four people on board. I now have an X100 alongside an X10 and an X-E1. It certainly does have its quirks - that blasted auto ISO separate from the ISO setting! - but it is a truly capable camera. Mine is also black; I scored it cheaply on eBay the other day on an auction that finished at 5 on a weekday... So far it lives up to - if not exceeds - expectations. steveclem Posted April 8, 2013 Share #6 Posted April 8, 2013 . My only niggle is I still keep nudging the EV dial. I. Get a rubber 'O' ring under the dial, it provides enough resistance to prevent accidental nudging and if you use a soft release, an even smaller 'O' ring on the thread will prevent it coming undone. Pangur Ban Posted April 9, 2013 Share #7 Posted April 9, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Good review. I've never owned an X100 but have just bought an X100s and looking forward to using it alongside my Leicas. I'm not going for a new M though.
