I can see the point of the forum rules about valuation with common items, its easy enough to search the net and ebay especially to get a history of prices achieved, but with something which appears to be unknown it might be more friendly and helpful to offer some advice about how one would go about getting a valuation for such rare items.

You're right. It is still seen as such, otherwise this would have been closed long ago. So I see it....;)

Just to clarify, I was never looking for a valuation. If I gave that impression, I do apologize. I am quite familiar with all of the major sources for acquiring valuations on known items. As a regular buyer and seller of vintage cameras and lenses, I use those sources on a regular basis. My question was simply posed to try to elicit opinions from experts on how to deal with unknown and rare items like this. I could certainly place on Ebay and see what the market bears but I doubt I would get that many bids simply because no one would be searching for an item like this. I could contact someplace like Westlicht but would rather not go through that hassle for something that while rare may not have any value. You can see the dilemma. If I did not have to sell it, I would not worry about it.

I feel that selling this lens through eBay is the best route to take. If properly described with right key words, particularly in the title - interested parties and search engines will find it.

Just my 2 cents....

Cheers,
