misha Posted March 31, 2007 Author Share #21 Â Posted March 31, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) v.interesting. so basically, from what i have read, having it around 2m is a pretty safe bet, given that we are unlikely to stray much outside th f5.6 - f8 range. Â thanks! Â p.s. next challenge would be the 1st gen tri-elmar (without d.o.f. markings) - that will be a lot to remember given its three focal lengths and f4 - f22 capabilities

woodyspedden Posted March 31, 2007 Share #22  Posted March 31, 2007 Woody How do you like the Zeiss 15mm? Can you compare it to the WATE? How much do you feel the lack of rangefinder coupling affects the 15mm performance? Roger  Roger  I don't yet own the Zeiss 15. Borrowed one for a few hours to do some experiments only including the external rangefinder tests. It seems to be a razor sharp product with good (but different from Leica) color. Large of course but since you compose with an external viewfinder that is really no problem. Biggest problem I see is price. Hard to justify $3800 for as seldom as I currently use super wide angles.  Woody

Sailor Ted Posted March 31, 2007 Share #24  Posted March 31, 2007 Great luck with the CV 12mm lens on my M8. Wide open to f8 set to infinity my shots come in tack sharp.  Welcome, dear visitor! I would also expect that the zeiss 15mm has some image quality advantage ( being a prime.) This will be offset if you can t get accurate focus. No real diffinative answer but was interested in your POV. I am just tuning up for the Leica trip.
