jrethorst Posted March 19, 2013 Share #1 Posted March 19, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Leica designed two beautiful lenses for 4/3, the 25mm 1.4 and 14-150 superzoom. With the advent of micro 4/3, Panasonic re-released the 25mm for the new format, and released a 45mm f2 macro for micro 4/3. I have looked for an announcement or rumors that they'll also re-release the 14-150, but haven't seen anything. Is there any hope for this zoom in micro 4/3? Advertisement Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Hi jrethorst, Take a look here PanaLeica 14-150 lens for micro 4/3?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jrethorst Posted April 21, 2013 Author Share #2 Posted April 21, 2013 It's curious, since I've read that Panasonic is selling the 25mm 1.4 micro as fast as they can make them.
Paolo.Battista Posted April 23, 2013 Share #3 Posted April 23, 2013 I own both the 25 Summilux for m4/3 and the 4/3 Leica Elmar version of the 14/150. The Summilux is wonderful (and the lens that I use mainly on the om-d) but the Elmar 14/150 is simply a Monster in the super zoom category. The main pluses are the tonality of colours, which remind the Summicrons of the R lens family, and the very high resolution when compared to similar lenses from competition. jrethorst Posted April 24, 2013 Author Share #4 Posted April 24, 2013 Everything I've heard about both lenses is good. Panasonic has another lens like the zoom, IIRC a 14-140 F4, and I really hope that doesn't stop them from bringing out the Leica 14-150. It may be more expensive, but jeez these are good lenses. With the adaptor for your zoom, do you lose any functionality? I think autofocus etc. is supposed to be fast.

But the autofocus is supposed to work very bad, since the lens is not optimized for contrast detection autofocus.
isaac Posted April 26, 2013 Share #6 Posted April 26, 2013 Hello Paolo! never tried the vario-Elmar on the OM-D, I use it on an old E-410. But the autofocus is supposed to work very bad, since the lens is not optimized for contrast detection autofocus. I cannot agree to your statement regarding contrast autofocus speed. I am using this lens on the Panasonic Lumix DMC-L10 which has both phase AF as well as contrast AF and in prinziple, there is not so much difference in speed comparing both.
