picturelady Posted March 10, 2013 Share #1 Posted March 10, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Can anyone tell me if there is a fix for this and know if it will hurt the camera if I use a sharp object point to remove it. It removes easily with a sharp object but I don't want to injure the camera. It worked fine until a couple of hours ago.
Advertisement Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Hi picturelady, Take a look here SD card not ejecting on DL 4. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Lee Martin Posted March 10, 2013 Share #2 Posted March 10, 2013 It's sounds as if the spring loaded mechanism has failed, I assume that the card no longer " bounces" a bit when pressed ? Have you taken both the card and battery out, to see if something has slipped down the gap, causing the problem, possibly a small piece of label from the battey ?. Does it still write to the card ? That would suggest that at least it's sitting in the right position . Have you tried more than one card in the slot ?
picturelady Posted March 10, 2013 Author Share #3 Posted March 10, 2013 Lee, I just took out the battery and sd card and see nothing in the slots. I also took a picture and it did write it to the memory card. Earlier I tried a different card and it was the same thing...no bounce like previously. I wonder if there is a little spring down in that sd compartment. Maybe I will try and find a diagram for the inside if the camera. Any other ideas? I am stumped! Lee Martin Posted March 10, 2013 Share #4 Posted March 10, 2013 I'd remove both the card and battery with care, tweezers will help with the card if need be, shine a light into the slots, and see if something has snapped off internally. Given the current value of the DL 4 it may not be economical to repair, but ive found mine so useful and it has provided some great photographs I'd not give up on it. Lee Martin Posted March 10, 2013 Share #6 Posted March 10, 2013 There's a few similar problems after a very quick search, showing up on Panasonic equivalent sites, although none list a cure, maybe the lock slider has fallen off and is jamming something, difficult to say any more without seeing it really. It should only fit one way so it's not that . Leica may be helpful over the phone or maybe you can contact Panasonic service dept just for an idea of the rough cost of repair . Good luck
picturelady Posted March 10, 2013 Author Share #7 Posted March 10, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Lee, Good idea to call Leica or Pano equivalent. I see nothing inside of the slots that shouldn't be there and checked out the entire manual, finding nothing on this problem. The slider for the battery is still in place correctly. Thank you for trying to find an answer for me! I really appreciate it.
