DaveyA Posted March 2, 2013 Share #1 Posted March 2, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Would an ex demo model be worth considering? Around half the price of a new one, 2 years manufacturer warranty and from a Leica dealer. Are people allowed to take these cameras away from the shop for a time or are they only handled in-shop as it were under the eye of the assistants? There is only a small picture of the camera and no mention of condition.

There is only a small picture of the camera and no mention of condition. If you can source an ex demo X2 for half price of a new model from a Leica dealer it's a bargain. If you have any reservations about the camera ask the dealer; if it works OK in the shop it will work anywhere. Make sure the camera has all its accessories and its original box and its downloadable Lightroom software. If it's an X2 from a Leica dealer there should not be any problems. dunk
DaveyA Posted March 2, 2013 Author Share #3 Posted March 2, 2013 It is a much better proposition than a "bargain" on eBay. I am sorely tempted.

He who hesitates ... loses the bargain ex demo X2 Someone else will soon snap it up if it's half the new price. dunk
simon8202 Posted March 4, 2013 Share #5 Posted March 4, 2013 Are you sure it's not an X1? There seems to be several dealers with X1 'ex demos' at £725 including case. Obviously Leica has found a few in a cupboard!
DaveyA Posted March 4, 2013 Author Share #6 Posted March 4, 2013 I am 100% sure they were listed as X2 models. However, when I checked online this morning prior to calling there were no X2's but there were 2 X1's for the same price. I did consider ringing them up to ask whether I had imagined it. It is possible they were listed incorrectly I suppose. The X2s were with cases, but the X1s are selling with grips. I swear I hadn't been drinking or anything:)
simon8202 Posted March 4, 2013 Share #7 Posted March 4, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I think they must have made a mistake in their listing and taken it down pronto! As far as I can see reddot, Leica Mayfair and Stephens all have these demo X1s with grip and case. Still seems a lot of money at £725 for a three year old camera but it does come with a two year warranty.
