imagist Posted March 27, 2007 Share #1 Posted March 27, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) On Sunday my M8, which has worked flawlessly for two months and nearly 700 exposures, simply delivered a "Shutter Err" in the viewfinder and "Shutter Fault" in the display. I tried reinserting the battery and SD card several times. Eventually got it to work. Turned it off put it in the bag. The next time I turned it on. It started all over again. And continues to work intermittently. It seems that if I bypass S and go directly to C it works with slightly more reliability; but still not dependably. Has anyone experienced this Shutter Fault problem?

etam Posted March 27, 2007 Share #3 Posted March 27, 2007 It happened to me twice when my M8 was used for about 300 shots. Both times it was the first shot after I pulled the camera out from the bag. Both times I just truned off power and turned it back on, the camera was back to normal. That was in early February.. I didn't do anything about it and wanted to wait and see if the problem would come back. 3000 shots later, it didn't re-occur. I am keeping my fingers crossed. By the way, I did the frimware upgrade soon after it was available.
Jeffery Smith Posted May 10, 2007 Share #4 Posted May 10, 2007 For the past week (after very light use), my M8 is pretty much 100% shutter faults. I can fiddle with it for about 10 minutes and get it to work again, but once it is turned off, nothing but shutter faults. I emailed Leica USA about it. They ignored my inquiry. Guest guy_mancuso Posted May 10, 2007 Share #5 Posted May 10, 2007 Jeff call leica repair in NJ ask for Robert Fisk. Back to the OP what firmware is in the camera. I might suggest reloading the firmware as a first try

carstenw Posted July 26, 2007 Share #8 Posted July 26, 2007 Ah yes, the "film" was getting stuck, was it? Maybe the shutter was stuck.
rbaron Posted July 26, 2007 Share #9 Posted July 26, 2007 Mine did this, to the point where I could take no photographs at all. Leica US promptly replaced it under warranty. I was told it was an electronic fault.
