ibogost Posted June 18, 2007 Share #5 Posted June 18, 2007 We never had an Atlanta meeting! Anyone up for it this summer?
Mountaineer-American Posted June 18, 2007 Share #6 Posted June 18, 2007 Are there any good camera shops in the Atlanta area? Thanks. "Don't start vast projects with half-vast ideas."

Sorry for the false start but I'm not the best at organizing anything.
ibogost Posted June 19, 2007 Share #8 Posted June 19, 2007 I think this forum may not be the best place to try to organize too. I'll try to think of a better way... BTW, there are no great places to buy Leica gear in ATL. KEH is here for used, but that's the only thing.
Linn Matthews Posted June 22, 2007 Share #9 Posted June 22, 2007 I am also interested. Please advise when get-together is set.
glenerrolrd Posted June 27, 2007 Share #10 Posted June 27, 2007 Also interested. Just back form the Leica / Porsche trip with Guy, Woody, Al , Mark and David ..all LUF contributors. Visited the Leica Factory , drove Porsches thru Bavaria and talked about Leica for 10 days . Between us and the loaners for the Leica Akademie we had every M lens in current production. I would suggest meet someplace we can shoot and then have some coffee or a lunch . I suggest that interested members make a suggestions on locations. Shootist Posted June 27, 2007 Author Share #11 Posted June 27, 2007 How about meeting at someplace like the world congress center or the aquarium with a walk around the city or one of the fernbank's, Science or history and then a short hop to decatur for lunch. glenerrolrd Posted June 27, 2007 Share #12 Posted June 27, 2007 I have shot at the fernbanks ..don t they have a botanical garden ? Couple of options if they are open ....after work (say 6pm ..but I would guess they are closed) or maybe around opening time on sunday . The idea being shoot for maybe 1-1 1/2 ..allowing people to catch up to the group..then visit a restraunant in maybe Virginia Highlands..I don t know the area and my friends choose when we go there. If you want to be included please send me your email so that we can communicate directly with you on timing and details . My direct email is glenerrolrd@yahoo.com...Roger Dunham

Shootist Posted June 27, 2007 Author Share #15 Posted June 27, 2007 Ed I can do either breakfast or lunch on saturday.. I am in in withdrawl though as I had to leave both my M8 s in Germany for rangefinder adjustments ! What!!! BOTH IN GERMANY? Sorry to say this but are you that foolish . The real reason I bought a second M8 was so if I needed to send one back for anything I wouldn't be without. God knows I didn't need to spend another 4795 and to date I have only taken both M8's with me once and that was last weekend to Roanoke (just incase I had a problem with one of them). What was wrong with the RF adjustment. Well I guess I could lend you one for the day. Hopefully others will reply and we can come up with either breakfast or lunch. Roger if it just you and me that's OK to. Really I just want to meet all you guys & gals??
ibogost Posted June 28, 2007 Share #16 Posted June 28, 2007 Awesome. Breakfast sounds good to me, and Crescent Moon is super convenient. Lunch would work too. I guess it will be easy enough to spot folks with their Leicas.
Shootist Posted June 28, 2007 Author Share #17 Posted June 28, 2007 Ok Saturday morning, Crescent Moon around 8:30. I'll be the short old guy with white hair and a grey/green Surefire or a black Glock hat on and a black M8. Roger I'll let you use my chrome M8. Bring SD cards and lenses. I have extra batteries. All are welcome, stop by. You never know maybe we'll do lunch also. Everybodies got to eat.
glenerrolrd Posted June 28, 2007 Share #18 Posted June 28, 2007 Ed I was at the Leica Akademie with both M8s . One had multiple problems ....infinity focus, patch alignment and backfocused. The other was just a small amount off maybe 10cm at one meter . Sent them both in for a free checkup. They were to be done by the end of the day . The returned the bad one and indicated that the other one had been returned to the factory for a major repair. My assumption they mixed up the two cameras ... Rather than deal with customer service ..they loaned me 2 bodies for the trip so I had both my 2 M8s and my R9/DMR . The M8s were to be done by the time we returned so that one of the participants could bring it back. Anyway they finished (fingers crossed) and they are been FedEx to me tomorrow morning . No need to bring the M8 (thanks ) I will just bring along my R9/DMR .
