Karl,

His name is in the question! "Rudy" the great, guardian donkey for years now. He is so sweet and kind to those in his care, the bigger ones, horses. But we have females too, I'll look for their pictures.

Glad you enjoyed,

George:D

Look closer, PURE donkey__I guess?

Perhaps you might google him my friend!

Darn, never thought before tonight, Rudy has been there for years. LOLOL

Never looked at his "undercarriage", guess just plain old, donkey.

LOLOL,

Now I will think about this all night long, maybe phone our manger and have him check in _Family background.:D

Saved and protected a big bunch of horses over the last, hmm 12-15 years or so.

I'll check and get back to you. Now*I am curious.Kinda!

George,

I am sort of curious.

My neighbor bought the mule that won the coast to coast Great American Horse Race, held in 1976 to commemorate the nation’s bicentennial.

Can you ride Mules like a horse? - Yahoo! Answers

The Natural Superiority of the Mule - John Hauer

The mule has died many years ago, but IIRC was a cross between a Poitou donkey and a thoroughbred mare.

The mule was huge like its father. Poitou's donkey - Baudets du Breuil

So, I wonder what breed your donkey is.

Paul,

What are WE doing up this late? LOL

Thank you kind sir, for you're comments!

Rudy is a very special guy, as I have mention to Karl, Rudy has been in pastures for over a dozen years, always protecting our horses, young and older.

He literally hears/knows when we are coming out to the pasture, and runs almost as fast as the horses on their longer legs. i.e. waits his turn for treats, mostly carrots.

He has one special buddy horse, and follows that one around like a faithful puppy.

There isn't a mean bone in his body, But, gawd help any creature who tried to harm any horses in what he considers, `his care'. He loves to be nuzzled, scratched, and like a dog we all love, if we start walking around the pasture, Rudy will follow us as if to make sure we too are, OK!

Have seen amazing things happen with donkeys in my life. They are Very smart and Not stubborn at all. At least not this guy, nor Rosemary either. They seem from the time they are placed in a pasture, it is their duty, to protect the horses there have sat and watched from a distance and their behavior is, unbelievable to say the least.

Enough said, we are sold on these very special `kids' also.

Good Evening to you,:)

George

Karl,

Many times have seen our manger ride them. He is a bit smaller then I am.

But they have carried loads that no horse can, and go further I had read on less water. They like horses, if walking an unknown trail, "sense'' the pathway cannot hold their weight, they will stop on a dime and refuse to go further.

I am certainly no expert on anything, ( and am uncomfortable with those who claim they are experts!!!) It would be like saying ' I know anything on Earth about this subject without question." Sorry, too much, b.s.

Have had horses since boyhood, but still would Never claim I knew only but a fraction about horse or dogs*or the like.

I find you're research most interesting and will read it in full. In the morning will ask more questions via the phone regarding Rudy, and others we have.

You have peak my interest. Now to hit the `books' again! :p

Good Evening kind sir,

George
