sepiareverb Posted February 24, 2013 Author Share #21 Posted February 24, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just realized that TMAX 100 goes for $90 per 100' roll. I can't believe that anyone would ever spend that much money on a bulk roll....

philipus Posted March 12, 2013 Share #23 Posted March 12, 2013 Just to update everyone. I received a reply from Kodak re 5222 which, as noted earlier, is 183€ for a 400' roll minus the 10% discount one can expect. But a rather large amount of 50€ is added for "handling". This makes the total 215€. Assuming one gets something like 65-70 rolls, that's 3,00-3,30€ per roll. Not bad but that makes it almost as cheap as buying Tri-X. Generalphoto.biz sells them for 3,65€ incl VAT. An upside is that delivery from Kodak is usually 2 days once payment has been received. Darn, suddenly I'm in two minds about going down the 5222 route.
chris_livsey Posted March 12, 2013 Share #24 Posted March 12, 2013 Works out the same, as near as, from "That's a wrap" UK Kodak 5222 Double-x 400' - £144.52 + vat 20% = £173.42 = 197€ (ex P&P)
philipus Posted March 12, 2013 Share #25 Posted March 12, 2013 Yes, it's very similar. The only slight problem is that TAW refuses to respond to my (by now repeated) queries. Are there other 5222 sources in Europe?
chris_livsey Posted March 12, 2013 Share #26 Posted March 12, 2013 Kodak Eastman Double-X 7222/5222 | Take 2 No contact/knowledge, no price on web site.
philipus Posted March 12, 2013 Share #27 Posted March 12, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Correction to my last. It is not similar to TAW's price. I just received confirmation from Kodak that local VAT will be added to the prices I quoted above, meaning +19% here in NL. So 400' would be approx. 245€. philipus Posted April 26, 2013 Share #28 Posted April 26, 2013 Just to update about my TAW experience. The nice big can arrived quite promptly, something one would expect for the rather incredible handling and shipping fee. However TAW failed to include the empty 200-foot cans that I had also ordered (and paid for). I reported this via email to the person I had been in touch with, who replied immediately, seemingly mortified about the error. She promised it would be rectified and somehow made up to me. That was on 21 March. Nothing happened for a week so I emailed again and was told a package had been sent to me. Earlier this week, more than a month after the delivery of the film, a parcel arrived with the empty cans. No goodwill gesture for the incomprehensible messup. Included was, however, an email printout relating to another order, including names and contact details of another customer. This printout had been used to note down the delivery address for my order. I would be curious to know what that other customer would think about such handling of customer information. Needless to say I will never order from That's A Wrap again but will order from Kodak directly which offers very similar pricing. Philip
