grober Posted March 26, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted March 26, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) FYI: The following answer was received today to an e-mail query I launched last Friday to the M8 support team in Solms: Â "Because of the large demand at the moment unfortunately we cannot dispatch your filters. As soon as they are in stock again, they will be sent. E49 black should be available from 17th calendar week [April?] on and E60 black from the 20th calendar week [May?] on." Â These are the two sizes I requested when I registered my M8 with Leica Germany in early December. (I purchased and shoot with the M8 in the USA.) Â I'm not happy with the answer but I do appreciate the swift turnaround to my question. Â -g
robsteve Posted March 26, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted March 26, 2007 That could explain why some are getting the filters and some are not. I ordered a E60 as one of my filters. Â I also posted months ago that the glass out of a 62mm B+W Fpro will fit into a traditional B+W 60mm filter ring. In the Fpro they mount the filter from behind, the older B+W filters have the locking ring on the front. Since the glass on the 62mm Fpro is 60mm, it will go into an old style B+W 60mm ring. I have been shooting my Noctilux this way since early December. Â Robert

Thanks for a bad news;)

stunsworth Posted March 26, 2007 Share #5 Â Posted March 26, 2007 I guess I'm not the only Nocti user then :-). Â I ordered the 60mm as one of my two filters, getting the more expensive ones via Leica seemed the most sensible thing to do.

marknorton Posted March 26, 2007 Share #7 Â Posted March 26, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I think it's going to be quite some months before we'll be able to pick up the phone to order a Leica filter from a dealer and find it in stock. I'm waiting for a 67, a 60 and two 55's...
grober Posted March 26, 2007 Author Share #8 Â Posted March 26, 2007 Â I ordered the 60mm as one of my two filters, getting the more expensive ones via Leica seemed the most sensible thing to do. Â We all did the same mental calculation. This is why the larger sizes are in short supply. Â Sometimes we're all too clever by half, huh? Â I need the E60 for my newly-coded, 21 non-Asph Elmarit, my new "28mm of choice" on the M8. I had hoped to use this lens at a wedding shoot mid-May. Will the E60 filter arrive before the nuptial event, eh?!. Â -g
stunsworth Posted March 26, 2007 Share #9 Â Posted March 26, 2007 Perhaps you could persuade the bride and groom to have a 'traditional' black and white wedding :-)

Oh, that's not what I wanted to hear. I've two E60s on order for the 75 Summilux and Noctilux. I need them for an assigment in May/June ...... so it looks as if it's going to be foto-huppert again. Later there will be two up for sale going cheap.   Bob.
grober Posted March 26, 2007 Author Share #12 Â Posted March 26, 2007 Perhaps you could persuade the bride and groom to have a 'traditional' black and white wedding :-) Â EXACTLY what I did as a "second shooter" for a local wedding in late November when the "magenta problem" first became evident. They exclaimed, "What a wonderful idea!" Sure made my life easier ... but you could still spot the IR polution on several shots. The family cherish the results nonetheless.
