Advertisement Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Hi k-hawinkler, Take a look here A skeptical Junco in its natural Environment. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
platypus Posted February 13, 2013 Share #2 Posted February 13, 2013 These are sweet. We have the same pine tree here in the alpine desert, but no Juncos.
robert_parker Posted February 17, 2013 Share #3 Posted February 17, 2013 A lovely image - we don't have Juncos here in England but we have a bird called a Finch which looks very similar
k-hawinkler Posted February 17, 2013 Author Share #4 Posted February 17, 2013 Thanks to each of you for the acknowledgement and feedback, Dee, Around here we have primarily Juniper, Pinyon, and Ponderosa Pine trees, the latter mostly at the higher elevations. Even higher are gorgeous Aspen forests. During the drought of that last decade more than 60% of the pinyon trees around 6000 feet elevation died off, so there are relatively more Junipers these days. This is a picture of my backyard "Bird World", only a few yards away from our house. Welcome, dear visitor! The birds are coming several times a day from surrounding mesas, canyons, and their forests for the water and seeds we set out. So, most of my bird photos were taken in this small setting, including the one at the opening post of this thread. :) Even the migrating cranes sometimes are flying straight overhead. Robert, Indeed, Finches in Europe are similar and fun to watch.
 Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members!
