Around here we have primarily Juniper, Pinyon, and Ponderosa Pine trees, the latter mostly at the higher elevations. Even higher are gorgeous Aspen forests.

During the drought of that last decade more than 60% of the pinyon trees around 6000 feet elevation died off, so there are relatively more Junipers these days.

 

This is a picture of my backyard "Bird World", only a few yards away from our house.

The birds are coming several times a day from surrounding mesas, canyons, and their forests for the water and seeds we set out.

So, most of my bird photos were taken in this small setting, including the one at the opening post of this thread. :) :)

Even the migrating cranes sometimes are flying straight overhead.

Indeed, Finches in Europe are similar and fun to watch. :)
