JDFlood Posted February 8, 2013 Share #1 Â Posted February 8, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Having seen, and looked at some camera bag choices, I thought maybe someone has found a murse that fits my requirements. High quality ( leather preferred ), iPad / mini carrier, with preferably a low riding pocket for a Leica. Do not need extra lenses, but a place for Pens moleskin. STM makes a couple that work, but the pocket in front fits an X2, but not an M, and they are just fabric. I just got a Hadley, but it is a fat little thing instead of long (vertically) with a pocket at bottom ( for a low center of gravity ). I want this for every day use... Work - weekends so it's primary roll is iPad, iPhone, moleskin, a couple CDs, but always a snug place for my Leica at the ready. CalArts 99 Posted February 9, 2013 Share #2  Posted February 9, 2013 The Muzetto (Muzetto Leather Bag - Laptop Bag - Man Bag - Personal Bag - SFBags - WaterField Designs) or the VertiGo (VertiGo Bags - Laptop Bag - Travel Tote - SFBags - WaterField Designs) might work for you (?)  SFBags - WaterField Designs - About Us  These are all made in San Francisco. I have several of his products and the quality and workmanship is excellent. And the designs are very 'urban stylish' imho.
JDFlood Posted February 9, 2013 Author Share #3 Â Posted February 9, 2013 Thanks. That looks interesting. I'm going to have to see if I can see one somewhere to understand how much bulging will occur from the camera. Thx JD
bill Posted February 9, 2013 Share #4  Posted February 9, 2013 A male nurse, I thought, until I looked at the pictures.  Nothing tasteful, from what I can see... But then I am not a metrosexual.  Regards,  Bill  Sent from another Galaxy

I use his products for laptops. You could email and ask for more details, they have great customer service. Â There's also Tom Bihn (which is in your neighborhood) but everything he makes is nylon only (Travel bags, laptop bags, and backpacks. The best materials and innovative construction since 1972 - TomBihn.com) I have his classic 'Empire Builder' that I use as a briefcase and laptop carrier. The best materials and innovative construction since 1972 - TomBihn.com) I have his classic 'Empire Builder' that I use as a briefcase and laptop carrier. Â I have a few Tom Bihn items including a Medium Cafe Bag which I find ideal for carrying around the M9, iPad mini, Rhodia notebook etc. it is made out of Cordura and is mostly unpadded, which I like. It is beautifully made (as is the Aeronaut that I use for travelling) and not an obvious camera bag so may be the answer to my long and expensive search for a camera bag which has included rucksacks, Foggs and everything in between. Â The only drawback for me, in the UK, is that they can only be ordered from the factory in Seattle so shipping and import tax are a bit steep. JDFlood Posted February 10, 2013 Author Share #7  Posted February 10, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have a few Tom Bihn items including a Medium Cafe Bag  Geoff  Thanks Geoff, I took a harder look at it ( at this point i can't believe i haven't seen every one of the 10,000 available bags)I must it does have a lot going for it. Lots of pocket, soft so it would accept the camera. I actually usually carry a mini iPad now, so I could probably slide that in the outside pocket and put the camera on the inside. Thanks for the suggestion. I tried my Hadley when I went to the symphony last night, and it is a nice camera bag that fits the iPad 3... But it is a camera bag... And not good for the other stuff and is plump. Not slim. JD
lumini Posted February 11, 2013 Share #8 Â Posted February 11, 2013 JD, Â That is exactly how I use the bag. The iPad mini fits in the outside, zippered, pocket with room to spare which leaves the interior free for whatever, including the M9. Mine is a jack of all trades, from work to travel to walking and cycling. Â The bags come in different sizes and different types, some specifically designed for iPads. I see that you are in Washington State so it might pay you to go to the Seattle store to have a look at them all if not too far. I had to buy sight unseen but was lucky in my choice. Â I also see that, like me, you are a cyclist. An optional extra is a detachable waist strap to stop the bag swinging around when on a bike, although I wouldn't like to fall on my M9. Peter H Posted February 12, 2013 Share #9 Â Posted February 12, 2013 Having seen, and looked at some camera bag choices, I thought maybe someone has found a murse that fits my requirements................ Â No wish to be rude but I do feel compelled to say that I can't imagine anyone carrying that bag without looking like they've just persuaded the Jessops receivers to sell them the last of their Easter 2007 Sale stock. Â Maybe that's a cool look!
JDFlood Posted February 12, 2013 Author Share #10 Â Posted February 12, 2013 Well, we're both cyclist, so we are used to looking like clowns. Although, I will draw the line if I start looking religious! Â I may take a different approach. I really love my STM mini something bag. It is unbelievably slim and well organized and has a front pocket that is just covered by the main flap... So I can blindly reach down and grab my camera (X2) or my iPad... 3 or mini. So if I get a D-LUX6 then it would fit and give me the zoom I sometimes want. It's not leather, but it is black, so looks fine at the symphony, work, or riding my bike. paulj03 Posted February 18, 2013 Share #12  Posted February 18, 2013 The external search for the perfect bag... I am well aware of it. :-))) I have many - seen Tom Binh, Crumpler, Timbuktu, etc My wife says no more without throwing out one or more!!!  Look at the MEC carry-all, it has everything, everything but leather....  MEC Carry All MG Shoulder Bag - Mountain Equipment Co-op. Free Shipping Available  It is has 3+ pockets, a dedicated ipad sleeve inside the main pocket area. Side pouch for something.  Optionally, for extra protection, I put a Crumpler Haven camera pod (small) for my Leica M9 in the main pocket. Ther is room for a lens or bottle of water.. Everything else (cell phone, moleskin, ipad keyboard even, key, wallet, passport, tickets, DLUX6 - I don't usually carry two cameras, it starts to get heavy with all this gear) can go in the other 2+ pockets (the + because the cover has a pocket for slips of paper).  Haven (S)  If you find soft leather, let me know. I was even thinking of designing this and asking someone to make it - like some of those artisans at Camden Town stalls but I don't live in London and they would probably need to make it in heavy leather. Maybe they could do it in Florence. But those are extreme options and getting too obsessive and no guarantees that you get it right but this is it (for now). :-)  note: I just a cut and paste for the URL's on my ipad and I don't have any links to MEC (re free shipping part of the link). JDFlood Posted February 18, 2013 Author Share #13 Â Posted February 18, 2013 Thanks Paul, looks like we are on the same quest. My wife just shakes here head each time another one arrives. You are right that one looks great, well sans leather. At the price, I'll try it. I thought of having one made as well. I have a bags bag ( east coast, some photo studio guy makes simple bags... i don't remember name) on order, that looked interesting also. This week I have been trying to remind myself that I get the X2 for this very reason, to fit a small bag. And I must admit the STM Micro Shoulder Bag is then perfect. It works great with either the iPad or iPad mini, a moleskin journal a couple ridiculously expensive fountain pens and the X2. Not leather either, but really functional.
