MEB Posted February 6, 2013 Share #1 Posted February 6, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) For those of you who might be interested in the DxO raw processor, I received an advisory today from them that they will soon be adding Leica M cameras to the files that they are able to process. I have used DxO off and on for several years for some of my Nikon files. The program is a very different experience from most raw converters. The program is especially good (and essentially built its reputation) at automatically dealing with lens distortions. There are also a large number of people who swear by its ability to process true colors. I don't use it for everything but occasionally it can really resolve difficult problems. Advertisement Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Hi MEB, Take a look here DxO and Leica M. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
kcnarf Posted February 7, 2013 Share #2 Posted February 7, 2013 Yes, DXO is an excellent automatic (but finely tuneable) post-processor. However, their having taken this long to be on the verge of producing a pp module for M9 does not augure well for how long we will have to wait before they produce a pp module for M- typ 240. hermanp Posted February 7, 2013 Share #3 Posted February 7, 2013 It depends... It took DxO this long to produce something for the M9/M9P/M-E because the market share of these cameras is peanuts compared to Canonikon. Obviously there were enough requests for Leica M9 support for DxO to invest in developing modules now (believe me, I have been requesting and pushing ). When the market share of the M240 is large enough DxO may consider developing modules for that camera as well. It is a commercial company, so they expect some return of investment... kcnarf Posted February 7, 2013 Share #4 Posted February 7, 2013 But DXO may have waited too long, as many m9 users have now accustomed themselves to other pp solutions or are even selling their M9s in order to switch to the M-typ 240. So DXO may also overly delay in producing a module of its software for this new Leica M.
kcnarf Posted February 7, 2013 Share #5 Posted February 7, 2013 By the way, there is an an apparently fairly recent fully automatic post-processor: Athenware Perfectly Clear. How good, especially for digital Ms, is it?
