I am sure this question has been answered on the forum but I can not seem to find it. From time to time the center focus point will go from green to white, lighting conditions don't seem to matter,by removing the battery seems to fix the problem for a while.I never know when its going to do it...it is quite annoying. Is this a know issue,or do I have a problem with my camera. Thanks so much.

Best to all.

I'm not sure if this is the same problem. This one (not regularly!!) occurs when I want set the white balance using the menu for changing WB. When the camera measures the "new" white it freezes and you have to remove the battery to start over.

To be clearer pressing the shutter halfway I get a green confirmation square, then the green focus point turns white when I attempt to take the picture shutter will not release. Taking out the battery out for a moment will correct the problem until it decides to do it again.

Thanks

My brand new X2 exhibits the same behavior. I have no idea why. I also suspect it isn't focusing quite on target in some cases. I wonder if the two problems are related.

I've had that happen with an X2 a couple of times, but I never had to do a batt pull to clear it.Since I switched to the facial-recognition focusing (inspired by John Kennerdell's post The Online Photographer: The Liberated Camera: Part II) I haven't experienced it at all. It's pretty agressive about locking on and tracking faces, a bit "Top Gun"-ish ("I've got a tone! I'm taking the shot!") that way, but I've had a higher percentage of keepers with it.

I now believe that my earlier statement about the X2 not focusing quite on target was a false alarm. My mistake, apparently!

An update to my earlier post....after reinstalling the firmware twice it seemed like it was focusing ok,but no it stared again in good light (outdoors) then started working ok again on its own.So now my Leica X2 is off to Leica Camera NJ we shall see what they say.In my opinion a camera with this price tag should not be doing this, love the camera though.

Best to all.

Mine does occasionally turns white. Reason unknown. I just assumed it was a mode I did not understand, never stopped the camera from working properly. JD

I've had this happen on my X2 and thought it was something I didn't understand. Maybe someone at Leica can tell us why this happens.

I have received a reply back from Leica NJ concerning the focus problem, the following work is to be performed 1. Adjust shutter release 2.replace or clean all switches. 3. adjust auto focus 4.check and adjust for good working order. Also the following parts to be replaced,

X!-X2 control element and X2 circuit, Top cover. So hopefully this will take care of the problem,I am to receive the camera back in early April. Best to all AL

Not to leave everyone hanging I wanted to give the results of my Leica x2 received April 4 from Leica. It is like a totally different camera, start up snappy, auto focus now quick and dead on,no more green focus points turning white. Leica did an excellent with this problem, you can read above to see what parts were replaced.Best to all.
