A new product for sensor cleaning has been presented at the PMA show.

The interesting thing of this new method is what the Canon Professional Service staff in Spain uses for cleaning (from 6 months or so). I don't know if it is the same product, but is very, very similar. This method is fast and 100% secure:

DUST-AID : Adhesive Based Sensor Cleaner for DSLR's

The question is if Leica recommend its use on the M8 sensor.

The interesting thing of this new method is that I have seen professional photographers using it for months (for instance, at the Canon Professional Service staff in Spain, from 6 months or so). They said me that this method is fast and 100% secure:

Would scare the h--l out of me to stick something like this on a sensor. First, I'd be worried that dust picked up from one area would end up in another area because of the requirement that you do it multiple times to cover the sensor. Second, I would be worried about adhesive residue left on the sensor. Seems to me I'd end up using Eclipse fluid and pec pads anyhow. The only advantage of this one over Eclipse is that you can't take Eclipse on an airplane.

By the way, I have abandoned the arctic butterfly. I have found using a Rocket blower and then Eclsipse is the most effective way to do it.

It's not going to get rid of grease or moisture spots , only wiping will do that . We have to remember it really is not the sensor per say but a cover glass but still moving the dust from one spot to another maybe a issue. The one thing though it is fast on location and traveling maybe the best option. There are some other new products out ther that look interesting, I saw one at PMA that uses a vacum.

I'm with you on all your points.

I am sceptical as to its overall efficacy and am concerned that some residue, actually a sticky residue, is most likely left on the sensor. However, time and usage are the ultimate arbiters and we should watch for future developments and keep an open mind.....

That is very, very interesting. Can you give us more information?

Thanks.

It's called Sensorscope from Delkin the scope is nice and it has the normal cleaning stuff but the vacum would not be mychoice. B7H sells it for 169.00

i would just like to have the scope myself

i have the Delkin sensor cleaner. The vacum doesn't work very well and the brush at the end of the vacum left marks on the sensor, so i had to use the swabs to get it off. I wasn't that happy with it so i'm think of getting something else.
