Lovely, Andy. Some of these old folders are just delightful.

I settled on a Voigtländer Perkeo II as my favorite 6x6 compact. It's quite pocketable and has a very nice Color Skopar 80mm f/3.5 lens. Quite a relief to carry that on a walk compared to the Hasselblad system. :)

The Carl Zeiss Sonnar 4,0/150 C is a amazing lens. I think I take about 80% of all my pictures with it !

Which one is your favourite ?

I would say that 90%, or more, of all my Hasselblad photos using the 500CM have been made with the Makro-Planar 120mm f/4 since I bought it. The Sonnar 150/4 is a true classic too, but I prefer the slightly shorter focal length and the close focusing capabilities of the Makro-Planar.

That looks to be in fantastic condition, Andy. Congratulations. Out of curiosity, how old is that camera?

I don't know for sure. They were made 1954-60. The serial number on the accessory shoe is corroded a bit, so I can barely read U(///)9841. The lens number is U08204, and it has the self-timer that was added sometime during the run (MXV shutter).  Anyway, there don't seem to be the detailed "serial number/year" lists for Agfa folders that there are for, say, Leicas.

I am fond of folding Zeiss Super Ikontas of 6x4.5 and 6x9 formats and have more than I can recall at the moment.

Choose the model which is ergonomic with the shutter release on the left top. I have no idea how earlier users coped with the lens located release; I was not alive back then.

The Super Ikonta is amazing but not as convenient as adan's choice. I just checked adan's model on the 'bay  and they have stunning asking prices. I'm outta that market. :)

Haha I agree but unfortunatelly this little jewel is much more expensive !

By the way.....I also own the 50 and 250 (like the 150) in the first C version

which is in my opinion the best mechanical build piece of craftmanship

ever anybody made in midformat !  ;)

Yes, the CF Makro-Planar 120mm f/4 T* was the most expensive of my Hasselblad lenses, excepting only the C Biogon 38mm f/4.5 T* (which comes with its own camera, of course... :) ). But worth it...!

My Hassy kit is SWC, C50 T*, C80 T*, CF120 T*, and C150. All superb lenses. Very different rendering aesthetic from Leica lenses, in general, but still beautiful. The CF lenses are a bit more practical in use, but I agree that the C lenses are simply beautifully made. I love the active DoF indicators.

I also really liked the 120mm focal length (I used the f/5.6 S-(for "Sonder/Special")-Planar C). It can switch-hit as a "normal" and as a portrait lens, and the f/5.6 was cheap and light and (IMHE and according to Zeiss's own MTF charts) a bit sharper than the f/4 CF. But dark!

But - the 120s really are "macro" lenses optimized for close-focus. You can see the field flatness and resolution start to fall off somewhat if you don't stop down beyond 15 feet/5 meters.

Yes. My SWC is alive again and I am so happy (it is the one you once used). The DoF indicators are certainly old-school and welcome.

...and the self timer of early lenses has saved me a couple times when I lost the cable release. That's not going to happen again.

We need more MF camera gear pictures in this thread...

Well, it just so happens that my 'new' (Y2K) Hasselblad 160mm Tessar 160mm arrived a few minutes ago   :)  (Photo taken with my Q)

Hope to find the time/opportunity to put the lens to the test tomorrow (I am under orders to go shopping for a new 'fridge this afternoon...)

I like very much this mix of black and chrome, old and new that is possible with Hasselblad. How do you like that 150?

Uh-oh, did she end up buying an SWC herself after trying yours? I've heard they're rather contagious.

Think for me its the only lens I really need. ;)

Some years ago when I get fed up with digital I bought me a Nikon F4 and a Hasselblad 500 CM again.

The Sonnar 4,0/150 C was my first lens for a while and I took this combination to a two weeks vacation to spain.

My digital Canon I left to my daughter because she was startig getting interrested in photography.

Often they say that gear has nothing to do with getting better results in photography - but for me it brought back the fun I missed for a while !
