A miller Posted July 9, 2017 Share #361  Posted July 9, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Was out with my old Linhof this morning and took some portraits  It is a Technika Press 23 circa 1956 (or so).  It came with 3 custom fit Zeiss lenses, the 180mm Sonar, 100mm Planer 2.8 and legendary 53mm Biogon.  The camera is pictured with a 6x9 film back.  I call this my SWC on steroids  Welcome, dear visitor! A miller Posted July 9, 2017 Share #367 Â Posted July 9, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) You're making my back hurt (again!) Â But nice "machinery porn!" LOL Â You don't know how many times I've come home from a shoot swearing to myself that I need to modernize my equipment. Even for a former Division I offensive lineman, this 25 pound beast can be a burden. Â But every time I go out and try to find a replacement I just can't match up everything that I like about the beast: 6x9, Zeiss/German optics, ground glass, rangefinder, etc. The Hasselblad system is the next best thing only the film size is 50% less - which doesn't make it a replacement! Keith (M) Posted July 9, 2017 Share #368  Posted July 9, 2017 Early start & 1x Portra160 & 1x Velvia rolls shot this morning. The walk up Knap Hill on the Marlborough Downs served to remind me why (with reference to Adam's magnificent machinery) my Hasselblad 500C will not be replaced by a 4x5.  Time for a rest of my weary legs & refreshing pot of Earl Grey!  Welcome, dear visitor! Let's face it, your photo just wouldn't have the same charm with a Fuji swapped for the Hassy... Having said that, neither would it work with my Linhof, as it would probably collapse the table. pico Posted July 9, 2017 Share #370 Â Posted July 9, 2017 . I have some large oddball Linhof slip-on glass filters, one of them mated to a lens shade. May I ask what slip-on size or screw-in size your Biogon requires? .

pico Posted July 9, 2017 Share #372 Â Posted July 9, 2017 Hi Pico - the lens diameter is 67mm. Do we have a match? Thanks for replying. Â Sorry, no. Mine are 100mm slip-on with 95mm lens shade which happen to work perfectly with the 75mm Biogon for Linhof. Bummer. Â Aside: Linhof users with the earlier 135mm Planar, 67mm filters do not fit properly. Oi, I hope it is not the same situation with A Miller's Biogon, a beautiful lens. Thanks for the thought, Pico. Â My screw threads work just fine for the 53mm nd 180. It is a little spotty with the 100mm, but with enough finaggling it works
sblitz Posted July 10, 2017 Share #374  Posted July 10, 2017 the Fuji Texas leica with a 90mm lens takes wonderful pics, not sure I agree that this Fuji glass isn't good .... in fact, everything I have heard and read is quite the opposite. The Texas Leica phrase refers to  more than its size. I have to dig up some pics I took with it and post it. Reason I don't have any right now is, well, the darn thing is heady the shlep around all day -- and I wasn't ever a lineman!

gbealnz Posted July 10, 2017 Share #376 Â Posted July 10, 2017 I think Keith M, or Ian "Wattsy" has one. Too big for me, but I certainly liked the couple that I have owned over the years. Partly because of the film real estate of course, but I never found anything to complain about with the handling, nor the optics. For aerials, it was superb. Partly because of the film real estate of course, but I never found anything to complain about with the handling, nor the optics. For aerials, it was superb. Gary   Not me, Gary. A Leica M body is plenty big enough for my taste. I seriously considered buying one of those Fuji/Voigtlander 667W cameras when they were available new but decided against when it came to the crunch. I did own a rather nice Hasselblad 501cm about ten years ago but didn't care for the reflex view and handling and sold the kit with few regrets. I do most of my photography when I'm out walking (15-25 miles typically) and I like to be as unencumbered as possible. By the time I have put my binoculars, books, maps, 1-4 bottles of water (depending upon the time of year and the likelihood that I will be passing near a shop of any kind) and film into my modestly sized bag, there is little room for camera gear.
