andyedward Posted January 10, 2013 Share #1 Posted January 10, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I understand that Eizo monitors are great for post-processing, but how do they perform for practical every day tasks, such as video playback? williamgm Posted January 12, 2013 Share #3 Posted January 12, 2013 I have used an Eizo monitor (connected to a Mac) for about two years & it is excellent, both for photo work (it calibrates well) & for general use. It's a Flexscan S2243W model (now updated, I think) - by no means the most expensive in the range. The ColourEdge are the most accurate, colour correction-wise. I bought mine from a company called Native Digital in the UK (they also supplied the EyeOne calibration unit).
robert blu Posted January 13, 2013 Share #4 Posted January 13, 2013 I'm also planning to buy an Eizo for my photo activity and thinking if it can be used to watch video and movies as well or if I should have a separate monitor for that. This thread is useful for me, thanks. robert
georg Posted January 13, 2013 Share #5 Posted January 13, 2013 They're usually excellent all-around Monitors as well, when it's big enough for you, you can use it also for less-demanding applications.
williamgm Posted January 13, 2013 Share #6 Posted January 13, 2013 I have found my Eizo S2243W fine for all my needs - photo, office, web, video etc; maybe not serious gaming, but I don't need this option as I've no interest in it! I found this German web site has good in-depth reviews of monitors - the link is to an old review of a monitor similar to mine. At the time it was difficult to find many good reviews of Eizo etc on the internet, but maybe that has changed now. PRAD | Review Monitor Eizo S2242WH-GY I did find the UK Eizo importer very helpful, particularly in finding dealers that had actual monitors on display so that I could go & see them in operation. When I was considering my Eizo, Calumet in Manchester was the nearest dealer to me & they did have various models on display.
wda Posted January 15, 2013 Share #7 Posted January 15, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) andyedward, I use two. My first one CE210W (was my main one) handles my admin support tasks while the newer one GG243W is used essentially for image processing. I calibrate it every 200 hours and it has proved to be excellent. If given the option, do get the hoods which enhance performance by reducing stray light interference.
