Nick_S Posted January 10, 2013 Share #1 Posted January 10, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Sigma have announced the DP3 Merrill. The 50mm f2.8 lens gives the equivalent focal length of a 75mm lens on the cropped Foveon sensor. It seems that they are following a similar route to Rollei with their classic film TLR's in offering integrated cameras with lenses corresponding to 28mm, 45mm and 75mm in the 35mm format. Personally I would have been more interested in a 35mm and 90mm two-body combination. Nick

brian8121 Posted January 10, 2013 Share #2 Posted January 10, 2013 Agree that a 35/90 combo would be great. Separately, I think it would be interesting if Sigma produced some sort of mirrorless camera with the Foveon sensor. Of course that eats into the R&D budget, which I think for now should be prioritized toward figuring out how to speed up write times. Sigma have announced the DP3 Merrill. macjonny1 Posted January 18, 2013 Share #3 Posted January 18, 2013 You get the same DOF as a 75mm f/4.2 full frame lens. Personally I wouldn't buy that sort of lens on a FF cam...
