rmutlak Posted January 5, 2013 Share #1 Posted January 5, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Wanted to share my experience with a 6 months old Summarit-75. Whilst traveling to Abu Dhabi, the diaphragm ring failed and became very loose. Got very disappointed. Living in Saudi Arabia and no active Leica dealer in the near vicinity, left no choice but to contact Solms for help. Was pleasantly surprised by the initial quick email reply ( they replied within 24 hours of my original mail) from Service Department that explained the procedure for sending and registering the repair. So on Dec 10th, send the lens by DHL. Leica received it on the 12th and issued a repair order on the 13th. The lens was in repair on the 14th and the repair was completed on the 22nd. The lens eventually departed on the 27th and arrived back to Riyadh on the 29th. 19 days including the Christmas vacations was in my opinion quite an impressive turn round. Although initially quite disappointed by the failure at such an early stage, now feeling good that the after sales support is actually there even for customers that are so far away from the nearest dealer/repair facility. The LEICA-Co. is known for it´s VERY capable Customer Service, these days renamed as >>Customer Care<< . Glad to hear, they still deserve this reputation. Enjoy your "new" lens ...
