Keith (M) Posted January 5, 2013 Share #1 Posted January 5, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) When on my travels I would like to have the option to transfer raw and jpg files from my M9 to my iPad Mini. Apple offer two (expensive) options - (1) Lightning to SD card reader and (2) Lightning to USB Camera Adaptor. The verbiage regarding which files they handle etc is the same for both. I'm tempted by option 2 as I could plug either my M9 or my 5DMkII in - but I have seen comments about warning messages coming up stating 'the device uses too much power'. Does anyone have any relevant experience of using either of these to cables?

chap Posted January 6, 2013 Share #2 Posted January 6, 2013 Going straight from an SD card to the iPad works better for me.
LocalHero1953 Posted January 7, 2013 Share #3 Posted January 7, 2013 I recently got an iPad 4 and the camera version of the lightning connector - basically just a cable with lightning connector at one end and female USB at the other. I have had no problems downloading photos from my m9. I put a post on the Leica m/m-e/m9 (etc) forum with more practical details of software etc - look for the "leica m9 and apple lightning USB adapter" thread. Any apple option is expensive :-(
Tonki-M Posted January 7, 2013 Share #4 Posted January 7, 2013 Any apple option is expensive :-( a worthy companion with the Leica it seems
LocalHero1953 Posted January 7, 2013 Share #5 Posted January 7, 2013 Yes, but at least the leica does something fairly amazing (sometimes, and with the photographer's help), whereas a lighting to USB cable does nothing clever at all!
