Voigtlander 21mm F1.8 now available.

My Voigtlander 21mm F1.8 should be arriving today. I'm really looking forward to seeing how it behaves.

 

Could you talk a bit about the ergonomics of this lens? Is it really big? How much of the lens protrudes into the rangefinder view? I understand that the petal style hood is permanently attached and can't be removed. What about the weight and balance on the M?

It's similar in size to the WATE, which I have as well. It definitely blocks a chunk of the viewfinder (crummy photo attached, taken by holding iPhone up to eyepiece). I use the Frankenfinder, so the cutoff is not an issue at all.

 

It's a hefty lens, but feels great in the hand and balances nicely.

 

As typical for Voigtlander, the build quality is excellent.

Back to the question of bokeh...

 

here are a couple close shots, which might give you some idea of the quality of the out-of-focus areas. The parking meters were at f1.8 and the branch at f2.4 (it was too bright for wide open.)
