Has anyone used this Meyer-Optik Görlitz Orestor 135mm f/2.8 lens ?

Saw some images from this lens and was impressed but I was wondering whether this lens will be suitable for the Leica M with the correct adapter ? and which adapter will you recommend.

Thank you.

Gosh, that's an old lens dating from the 60's. I had one when I was at school, I remember it cost me £15.95 or about $24 but that was 1972. It was fine on my Praktica L at the time but it's a pretty basic lens. I also had a Meyer Optik Lydith which was 30mm f3.5 IIRC.

It will probably have either an M42 screw-thread mount or an Exakta bayonet mount and you can buy an M42 to Leica M adapter, maybe Novoflex do them. That will also allow you to use old Pentax lenses such as Super Takumars.

The one M42 lens I used to lust after was the Carl Zeiss Jena Pancolar, 50mm f1.8 but I expect anything modern will blow it away.

Görlitz is a town in former East Germany on the Polish border. Whereas the larger East German cities are being modernised such as Leipzig or Dresden, the process is somewhat slower elsewhere and Görlitz retains some of the old world feel. I liked it when I visited last year but of course Meyer Optik are long gone.
