ibogost Posted March 21, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted March 21, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Upgraded 1.09 -> 1.092 before a trip this week. I've been experiencing two strange problems since and I wanted to get your input. No corrections have been applied to the images I'm about to reference. Â First one I'm more concerned about. Since the upgrade I've been getting a vertical band around 1/5 the frame width from the left edge. Worse, I don't see it all the time, and I can't find a pattern (I thought it was only appearing at high ISOs, but now I don't think so). Take a look at the 100% crop in the first image below to see what I'm talking about. Â Second was a completely isolated incident. I think it speaks for itself; take a look at the second image below. Note that this is exactly how the image came out of the camera; I didn't touch it in postprocessing. WTF? Thankfully, this is the only example of this weirdness in the 200 shots or so I took over the last two days, but it still raises an eyebrow. Also note the lack of a vertical band in the second sample despite the fact that this image has practically identical exposure settings and was taken moments after the first one. Â What do you think? ibogost Posted March 21, 2007 Author Share #2 Â Posted March 21, 2007 Ok, so this is what I get for not reading the forums before posting. I read Sean's previous thread/survey on vertical band issues and went back to check if I had any high ISO examples of this band, and lo and behold I do, but very few. I'm seeing it far more frequently on 1.092, or that's my impression. Â Anyone else? Also, has there been any updates on vertical banding in general? heninger Posted March 22, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted March 22, 2007 I've had the second example show up in *one* image in about 7000 in the last few months. It was taken when I was pushing the buffer continually for almost an hour. Done that lots since, never had a problem.
ibogost Posted March 22, 2007 Author Share #4 Â Posted March 22, 2007 Thanks for the feedback. I'm going to assume that one was a fluke. Â Now I just need to figure out this thin band problem. I may just be searching for excuses but I swear I'm seeing this much more since 1.092.
