glenerrolrd Posted December 22, 2012 Share #1 Â Posted December 22, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I managed to bend the hood on my 28/2.8 R to the point that it binds the focusing of the lens when retracted . If I leave it extended its hard to see any difference but it will not retract (its a very nice design ) . Also in the same mishap managed to put a small scrape on the bottom of a 50 1.4 summilux 60mm hood. Both these lens were essentially new and took forever to find . Â I expect that sending the lens to Leica for service is my first choice ..but before I do ? Anyone had any luck buying a replacement hood and DIY . The 28 looks possible but the 50 looks like a lens disassembly is in order . My biggest issue is time as these type of repairs seem to get lost in the system and 3-4 months hasn t been unusual . algrove Posted December 22, 2012 Share #3 Â Posted December 22, 2012 I will be interesting in your success in getting this type of repair accomplished as I have messed up one R lens extendable hood also, but it still works as designed.
