V Lux problems

Dear all,

for 2 months I have been using a V Lux 3 afer 2 years with a Lumix FZ 28.

The often mentioned "blown highlights" seem to be a big problem, the colors of the V Lux 3 cannot match the ones with FZ 28 - I am a bit disappointed.

I shoot with exposure - 2/3 as I live in Thailand, the sun is hot and BRIGHT.

Today again I had this problem with the high lights:

I always step down the exposure by 2/3, now I opened the I Dynamic and I Resolution as well with the result that photographing 2 sales girls in a property developer's office made their faces absolutely "white", more wihte actually than Asian girls want to look (they admitted that they look too white!)

For metering I use "center weight" but if I choose " matrix" it doesn't make any difference.

These blown highlights very much anoy me as I like my photos a bit on the darker/warmer side and I hate areas that are so white that you cannot see any structure or texture any more.

I never used RAW because I always thought life tis too short to use it but can I correct the blown highlights by using RAW?

Maybe it is a malfunction of the metering as I often shoot 2 or 3 photos of the same subject and one shot might be ok the other has this blown highlights although ISO, f and speed are absolutely identical.

Nevertheless, I used the FZ 28 with the CCD sensor yesterday and was "blown away" with the colors and character of the photos, just in "P" mode but customized settings, everything so right!

Is it the sensor, opposed to CCD opposed to CMOS? As I am looking to buy into Leica M I might go for the ME with CCD sensor, cheaper than the new M with CMOS.

Your advice is desperately needed!!

Heiner
