I am totally new at this so please excuse my ignorance... I am trying to photograph with the M8 objects which are between 2 and 4 inches high (5 to 10cm.) so I picked up a visoflex III and bellows II. There is a M-mount on the bellows so I attached a summicron 50 but it only allowed me to frame the object at a specific distance and I could not get the whole object in the frame. My question is the following: are there any specific lenses which would allow me to focus to infinity and shoot at whatever distance I wish? Am I missing something? Thanks for helping me solve this....

Am I missing something? ....

Hello, Gilles,

When you attach the Visoflex and the bellows, you are in effect starting with quite a long "extension tube" of sorts on the camera body. When you mount a 50mm lens on the bellows, you will start with a large, probably too large, magnification. There are a number of older lenses which enable you to remove the elements from the focusing mount. They will allow you to accomplish your task.

Thanks for the hints... From what I gathered, there are four lenses available, with the front elements that can be removed from the focusing barrel, and which screw on the bellows via adapter 16558. The lenses are:

- elmar 65 screwmount

- elmar 90 bayonnet

- elmarit 90 bayonnet

- elmar 135 bayonnet

I tried my 50 Lux Asph on the Visoflex III directly, while I am waiting for my bellow II to show up, and at f/11, the sharpness was astounding across the picture. I think the 90 Macro would likely also be very good. Without one of the special adapters and a special lens, like the Elmar 65mm, I don't believe you can get infinity-to-macro focus ranges. You are working in a very limited range.
