I'm heading that way for a week or so just after Christmas. Singapore is a decent place to buy watches, particularly used as there's something of a "flipping" culture

Does that extend to camera gear and if so, where should I go for a drool over Leica stuff?

Thanks

Leica is a lot more expensive in Singapore compared with Europe and USA. You can refer to the price list below.

LEICA M-System Price List - The Ferrari of Cameras

There are a few Leica dealers in Singapore, but prices are pretty fixed. You can check out one of them at the Raffles Hotel.

+1. Agrees with Jason. Somehow I can never understand Leica Asia Pacific pricing policies. Singapore and us - in Malaysia - cameras are duty free but if you look at the prices here; it's ridiculous. Most of us buys our Leica stuff direct from UK mainly - with savings of at least 20% mostly off the VAT.

Other brands of cameras and accessories - yes its definitely cheaper and don't forget to claim back the 7% ? tax in the airport.

Singapore isn't really cheap for electronics or watches but it's a wonderful city to visit and photograph -- safe, easy to get around, a variety of cultures, great food, fascinating modern architecture, design museum I haven't seen yet plus amazing Gardens by the Bay. Best place to "drool over Leicas" is the Leica boutique -- it also has photo exhibitions -- right near Raffles Hotel. Raffles is a delightful old colonial hotel with courtyards, restaurants, and shops. There are also quite a few camera shops in Orchard Road, one of which used to have window full of classic Leicas.

Toshack10,

I will be there too after Christmas.

Maybe we bump into each other. I will be the one with the beautiful wife next to me and the irritated teenager a few steps behind us:D

I have hooked-up with a guy selling halve cases in Singapore, and will get some.

Look at kenjileather.com if interested.;)

Have a great festive season.
