35 cron ASPH vs. 35 lux ASPH

Peter, your list got them all. :)

If you need the stop, pay the extra money.

However, I believe Puts says that the slower lenses are better at the first stop, and that they are about the same closed down. That is, the 'cron is better at f2.0 than the 'lux at f2.0, but as you close down further they perform the same.

Nevertheless, there is a special quality that you get from the 'lux lenses, maybe it's the bokeh, when wide open. This is a magic trick that Leica does just about the best of anybody.

I have been using 'lux 50's and 35's for 30 years. You'll be in heaven with a 'lux.

Since you're looking at two different asph lenses, I'm with you. Stay away from the non-asph 35's.

I use a 35 cron ASPh and 50 Lux on my M8. The 35 cron ASPH is so good w/ the M8 where the lux has had reports of backfocusing. In any case, they are both superb lenses. I used to own the 35 Lux ASPH with my M7 and it was a magical lens. The cron ASPH is a bit sharper across the frame. Basically, if you want 1.4, the Lux is the only way to go.

Here are three shots with the 35 cron ASPH on the M8
