Well there are but you have to get real lucky to find one.

I was checking the B&H site every day, multiple times a day, for one and I got one last Tuesday evening.

I saw it was In Stock and hit the Add To Cart button. Did the checkout and when I went back to the Leica Lens page it was Out of Stock.

Although I had it shipped 2nd day air UPS gave me the run around and I didn't get it until yesterday.

Leica USA told me that they will have new stock in two months. I have an order waiting for one with them.

Well just to qualify my first post to this thread. The one I got from B&H last week is brand new. Not sure what Leica USA means when they say they will have stock of them in 2 months. It seems there are some out there right now. I'm also not sure how many B&H had as I put my order in at 9:29PM EDST. So they may of had 3-4-5-whatever number of them on Tuesday.

I'm sure other dealers also got some last week and there are a lot of Leica dealers that do not have a website like B&H and those other dealer might just have this lens sitting on a self waiting for some one to walk in or call about it.

Ed, maybe they were speaking specifically of back orders for the 30% off deal in conjunction with the M8 purchase. If they have them, they're sending them all out to dealers, I guess. They've had my order booked from Germany for three weeks, and I was told to expect it in another two months.

...generally they've been impossible to find though you can put your name on a list at photovillage and 17th st photo and they will notify when they have one

...but check out sean reid's reviews which are outstanding...he compares several 28's and gives the most thorough comparisons imaginable...what i like about his reviews here is that highlights the comparative capacities of non leica lenses without downplaying the quality of leica...and he gives you a real sense of how different lenses draw on the m8...because of his 28 review i wound up with the voightlander 28 mm 1.9 because of how sean's discription of it's draw on the m8 is what i was looking for in a lens.....thanks bill parsons to directing me to sean's sight
