smokysun Posted March 19, 2007 Share #1  Posted March 19, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) i've been meaning to share my adventures with R lenses on the canon 20D  first of all, focus confirmation adaptors really work. i'd have given up without them. one off ebay and an elefoto off fred miranda. they really breathe life into the effort. (i think they're all made in china.)  second, this page really helped with an overall view: Play with Lenses Menu 2 not a lot of information, but convinced me the 2.8 elmarits the best bet. what's the point of having a fast lens you have to stop down?  so far i've four lenses: 50 summicron, 28 elmarit, 90 elmarit, and the minolta leica 75-200. all of them take goreous pics, inside and out.  finally i've copped to the fact 28-70 on the 20D is the most useful range for me. (i've lots of others, including the sigma 10-20, which is lots of fun). thus, i've bought a 28-70 off ebay and should receive it this week. not fast for indoor work, but i really could have used it yesterday:  peace in the plaza Photo Gallery by wayne pease at pbase.com  all straight from the camera. the two below tweaked a bit.  okay, i did order an R4 with a motorwinder. within 2 minutes of receiving it, i realized film dead as a doornail for me. i am so used to immediately reviewing my pictures to go back simply not an option. i returned it. (also the combo bigger and much heavier than my 20D! that really surprised me.)  i've thought of a 5d but i need the speed of the 20d and like it's small size. it fits perfectly in my hands yet gives me a little upper body weight-lifting exercise. (it would be really fun to try an m8 for an hour, but i suspect i'd immediately miss the features of the dslr).  so here i am, after last year with the d2 and d-lux2 going a bit backwards. but what lenses!!!  thanks to all who helped and gave advice.  wayne
