Advertisement Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 Hi andybarton, Take a look here Almay to cut commission rates Jan 2013. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stunsworth Posted November 20, 2012 Share #2 Â Posted November 20, 2012 I uploaded a few images to them a few years ago and sold a couple. What worries me more is the fact that I haven't reached the minimum amount that means the money can be transfered to my bank account <grin>.
wattsy Posted November 20, 2012 Share #3 Â Posted November 20, 2012 With the proliferation of photographs and photographers in recent years, stock prices have been heading in only one direction. James West can spin it how he likes but reducing the commission paid is just another means of preserving Alamy's margin, something they are obviously perfectly entitled to do. Â Stock photography has changed markedly in recent years. As recently as the late 1990s, the big players like Tony Stone and Getty used to produce very lavish catalogues (I still have some of the better and more intricately designed examples somewhere) and their contributors, by and large, were able to make very good money from stock sales. Very different days.

Stock sales are low but bring some money in - I think that that's all that you can really expect now. Nobody seems to be selling stock well - agency or photographer.
