Are there any profiles available for use with C1 for the DMR aside from the default R9? Does anyone have a workflow for use with the DMR? It seems as though the DMR was not given the proper support by the powers that be. I enjoy using the camera despite its quirks but I'm just wondering why no firmware update was provided given the time that has already transpired. The M8 already has several and even has a date for 1.10. It seems that I'm like the rest of the DMR owners who are left to fend for themselves. I read somewhere that the DMR is also being discontinued. Is this true? If so what does this mean for existing DMR owners?

Herb:

I think both of the issues are related to Imacon being acquired by Hasselblad.

There is probably some legal wrangling going on about Imacon and the new firmware. It may be as simple as the DMR having prorietary technology of either Leica or Imacon in it and either Hasselblad or Leica don't want the other company having access to this technology any more.

As far as the DMR being discontiunued, more properly, it is sold out and no more new units are going to be made. Once again, why would Hasselblad want to spend its energy making a Leica camera?

I have some news on this issue.

As reported in the Members Meetings section, I attended the Robert White trade show in Bournemouth today. There were two Leica UK reps in attendance, one answering questions on the M8/D3 the other on R/DMR. In answer to my question on firmware update for the DMR he advised me that release 1.26 will be launched at the end of April or early May.

I must have looked a bit sceptical as he went on to say that the delay is largely due to an ever changing "wish list" on this Forum and Leica wanted to get it as right as they could for as many users as possible.

So we are back to the "next month" type promise but at least we have someone from Leica prepared to stick his neck out to the point of designating the issue number for the upgrade. I hope he is right and if so that the new firmware will meet our needs.

It does tend to reinforce the fact that decision makers at Leica do take heed of our comments on this Forum and eventually do their best to come up with the answers for us.....hopefully!

such great news.... this is the first i heard of a leica employee saying to customer(s) there is firmware with a "new" expected date....(verse: soon, anytime now, or i don't know) ... and the delay is due to the changing "wish list"...i can live with that.

the only thing i have gotten directly from leica was a firmware fix will come for

1. the warm monitor

2. and better auto white balance

what i would give to see the complete list !!!! there are so many great ideas on the forum, i hope they picked some that apply for me !

thanks for the update

That's extremely good news, I haven't been shooting as much as I would like with my R9/DMR since I worry about the white balance and workflow corrections I will have to do post shoot. This bit of news is most welcome and hopefully, will materialize soon. Glad to know there are a few people around the globe who share my sentiments .

.....i have heard nothing new.... What i can not understand is why leica needs to be so secreative on firmware to a discontinued (but still supported) product.

In my opionion if leica wants to start positioning the R10 they can do so by demonstrating how they will be serving and supporting the digital R user community. Step one: communicate
